USA - How to Best Report Trades on Taxes

I'm trying to gather all of my trades to submit a list with my IRS Form 8949. Some exchanges are rather easy to copy/paste the entire history of transactions, but others are more difficult.

Also, a difficult thing I want to hear from others on is how to keep track of exchange-to-exchange coin transfers to calculate total gain/loss on all trades. Is it literally as tedious as it sounds?
