adbit.co used to be quite good, though i just checked them and the host was down. Not sure if they are offline temporarely or forever, but if they come back they are a pretty nice site to bid for add space

If you follow back one of the few oldest crowdsource campaigns, it was based on kickstarter.
The community alone there see something great, you`ll get funding for it. But, if you want additional forms of traffic a good approach is people who watch twitch as well, since more gamers are likely support it as well too.
These are just some ideas, not a 100% method.

There are a lot more professional options today than there used to be. For general Bitcoin PR and marketing from a team with over 2 years experience (a very long time in the world of Bitcoin) I humbly suggest http://bitcoinprbuzz.com/services

If you check the auction section, there are advertising rounds itself on this forum, where it adds a banner.
Its a good way to get yours exposed to really test what the community thinks of your site. I think its a good way to gauge to continue the project or not.

I'm putting together a marketing plan for a bitcoin startup and need to know where best to target ads to bitcoin users. Thanks.
You can put banner ads on faucets, forums, webwallets and many more. Where to put the ads depends on what product your client is try to sell and what demographics your clients is targeting. You can make some suggestions on PR work. The bitcoin community is not that big, public relations and crisis management are very important.
