I'm  just curious on what streaming technology they will use? It is proprietary or open-sourced? Do they have to pay royalties on other technologies that they might use in the future?
There is a "Begin Technology Patent Process" on their roadmap, but I don't know which technology its.

they will probably license some technologies and develop others. a mix between the two.

I haven’t heard any details of the upcoming patent technologies. Perhaps it will be for the use of a token to fund movies and its associated return-on-investment

A regular streaming contents with smart contract fundings.

I am curious about it too. If they use an open source one, it will be awesome since it will decrease the operation cost.

Yes, but they need a good job if they use open source because if they make a sloppy job, people can exploit it easily. They seem like pros so far and i believe they will do a good job about this too.

What kind of technologies could this be? I mean we are talking about streaming, more then a new file format or something like that is not coming into my mind. Or do they want to make some devices?

I would also like to know where that country is most of 3rd world country have a very slow internet connection, streaming movies will sometime took longer waiting than streaming.

The biggest problem might be that they don't always have a steady connection, so once it's loaded the connection might be cut for several minutes/hours

Soon Elon Musk will launch its satellites and provide free Internet on the whole planet. At least I read such news about his plans. Smiley

Well, a product cannot rely on Elon Musk's mood about a sending a satellite and providing free internet to the masses.

The problem is not about his mood. If he says he will make this internet thing happen, than he will make it happen. The questions is when and that will not be this or next year for sure. For this they need to bring up a lot of satellites and SpaceX is still not in the situation to launch rockets weekly. Do not expect this to happen soon.

What I am trying to convey is that you cannot and should not rely on any other entity for your own product to work.

I dont think there will be much new technology. The current technology is pretty much fully developed.
Would be interesting to know which formats will be available. Even 4k/8k? All the way down to 480p for mobile devices? What inbetween?

I am sure that the project focus of cryptoflix is not to develop a new straming technology. They will use modern streaming features but there are several different solution on market.
Would be nice to get the product name, but this could also be confidential because of other projcets.

I guess they'll use the x265 codec. It shrinks files a lot more and reduces the bitrate compared to x264.

I'm  just curious on what streaming technology they will use? It is proprietary or open-sourced? Do they have to pay royalties on other technologies that they might use in the future?

It looks like they will be using a proprietary streaming tech according to the white paper:

"We intend to deliver a user-driven quality of the content so that it will be
possible to stream size-compressed films even at lower internet speeds.
This deals with the first two challenges.
We call this, Your Definition or YourDef."

"With YourDef the CryptoFlix Platform challenges the notion of the bigger
the better. We say that size indeed matters and the right size is the best
fit for everyone.
YourDef is the implementation of current streaming techniques and coding
plus individually customized size adjusted to screening device and taking
individual preferences into account. This means that YourDef will be
decided by the user and the device and will mean that one only pays for
what one receives. It seems only logic and it seems only fair yet no other
digital distribution platform has utilized this principle before.
The technique behind YourDef is a combined effort of multiple
technologies for optimizing the streaming experience both in terms of
quality and stability, which is closely linked to the data speed access and
device screen size. As an added option, the user will be able to reduce
data size further in accordance with personal preferences."

Okay but does they explicitly mentioned that YourDef technology is their own proprietary patented tech or it came from other entities?

YourDef sounds like an invention. The underlying tech might be established codecs and standards but no one else has done this before as far as I know. I assume they will detect when you watch a movie on a smartphone and reduce the quality to 720p for example.

If proven successful, anti-piracy technology will be needed not only in the world of cinema but also in other fields like in music industry.
The war against piracy is being and continues to be echoed around the world. It is nice to hear that cryptoflix participate in fighting this type of crime.

So I was right on "YourDef". I really don't know what happens today with Netflix, if you have a slow connection you're fucked basically?
