Its a good question and I think I know where you are coming from.
A constructive post imo can be either technical, opinionated or advice based.
It doesnt necessarily have to be very longwinded but must have some sort of backup evidence depending on the reply.

While I am 100% behind the merit system i feel maybe its not working at its optimum.
I think I have posted good stuff like others but the merits are not flowing as well as they should.
( Nothing like blowing your own trumpet   Wink )

Constructive posting is not difficult but at thw moment regarding merits it is subjective and there can be a lot of repetition.

It's all about being on the point and a bit of viewers preference.

My opinion about constructive post:

1) To the point answer explaining the query in easy language.

2) Preference to someone who makes the reply earlier. If your reply is reply number 500 or so on a crowded thread, it will never get noticed.

3) Humor and good grammar always help.

Why don't you tell us what you consider constructive? Everyone has their own opinion on what a good/great post is, but was the post helpful, informative, well-written? Was it funny? Did it make a valid point? If someone reads a post and it ticks one of those boxes then it should likely be rewarded with merit and any posts that are just one or two sentences of mindless drivel done by a drone that has already been said hundreds of times should just be left alone as this system is trying to prevent those sorts of posts from being churned out.

A constructive post is one that’s on topic (with regards to the OP). It needs to be thoughtful & concise, post length imo isn’t really all that important.

One thing that is a bit annoying is when people bump a post from a long time ago just to reach their sig campaign allotment.

Well "theoretically" merit is supposed to be given to constructive / good quality posts, but you'll find people using it like a facebook like button. So I'd say stop worrying about your rank and rather focus on making good connections. Use this place as your primary social media for connecting with Crypto people. And you'll eventually rank up.

Yeah your kinda right but wouldn't it be useless if merit points are given just because you use your connections instead of having good quality post or something like that?  Huh
But I like that idea, use your connections just to earn merit points in order to rank up.  Cheesy

Members with approach will soon get their profile painted with red trust by senior members. Already it has started. Coming back to question of OP, constructive post is one which addresses the query asked.

It should be Focused on the topic, it must be direct and straight to the point. There must be no profanity words used.
Lastly, a post must be meaningful, no name drop and no insulting of others.
