Hi,
I'm running a 6 GPU 1080 ti mining rigg. Asrock 110 pro btc motherboard. i have 1x 1300 w for risers and 4 GPU and one 750 W for the last two cards (and their risers also).
Now I have dialed back the GPU's to 75% tdp and with 0 overclocking as I'm waiting on better PSU's and the 750 w will go to the 1060 rigg, and be replaced by a 1000w watt. That way I will end with 3 cards on each PSU. Currently all cards are running below 200W.
Now things was stable for maybe a week, but lately the rigg is struggeling alot, its crashing several times a day and the worst part of it is actually the rebenchmarking that nicehash runs every time. I just dont understand why it has to do the benchmark all over again and I takes forever. Then its up again.
The risers are V008, and all the lights indicate that everything is fine. I have 1 sata per card and 2 on the molex. If it was just 1 card having to the benchmark again I would check the risers, but it's all of them. Pagefile set to close to 100gb ssd etc
Regardless I'm open to suggestions and tips in the search for a stable rigg. Currently stuck and waiting on new PSU hoping that's the solution.. but it might not be...

risers = garbage sata power risers = junk turn the units down to 60% tdp and only check equihash to benchmark

Afraid I'm not sure I understand your comment
If not risers then what? or are you saying that the ones I have is the prbolem
Powering 1 riser with 1 sata connection I thought was according to the guidelines?
Equihash? Thats like #9 on profitability if you check them all

So with crashing your profits are zero. Switching is a waste of money and causes crashing more often. Once you get system stable you can add a few coins to benchmark. No riser should use sata powered systems. give me a link to your riser https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076MSJQBS/ref=sxnav_sxwds-tsp_1?the one above is shit as it forces sata these are better they use 6 pin pcie https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072XGDWB3/ref=sxnav_sxwds-tsp_2?you simply do not use the adapter and use 6 pin pcie direct.

thank you for the clarifications. Im using the risers that you say are bad yes, 3 of them are connected directly to sata (only 1 per psu connection) and 3 of them are connected through the 4 pin molex. They have sata, 4pin and 6 pin. Basically my soure for doing this is this post: https://forum.z.cash/t/the-facts-about-gpu-mining-electrical-specifications/19468 with some additonal googling. Im hoping to avoid sata all together, and I think I will with the new PSU.

so using the risers I have with 4 pin and the 6 pin pci-e is not an option?
I'm struggling with the number of PCI-E cables I have available

I don't think it's your risers, I'm using both types, including the one that's recommended here. Yes, you could have one bad riser, but there is nothing wrong with using SATA or Molex to power them, I have one SATA ribbon powering 4 risers and it's not even warm. The current draw is very low and connecting a PCIE directly into the riser will make you run out of PCIE connectors fast, requiring PCIE splitters for this small rig, when the OP needs two PCIE for each TI already. I think the OP's issue is either the PSU or one bad riser. I'm leaning towards PSU since it was working fine for a week. Jiboo, I don't know what PSU you have, post it with specs. You could have popped or dried a capacitor if your PSU is cheap. You could try swapping the PSU that powers the MB, I would do that first. I know that 4 TITANs on one of my rigs can crash my Corsair 1200w on full load if it also powers the MB/CPU. Your 1300w sounds like a flake.

the risers that phil mentioned are ON POINT. ive got 24 cards using them, and they are working well. everybody was trying to upsell the mintcell brand, which are nice, but 100$ for 12 vs 80$ w ubit. for a few, i even used the sata adapter due to lack of cables. still running smooth, all temps under 59, except the one problem child that hits 64. also my only gigabyte card, just sayin.
i also found that using windows crashes my rigs, not because of windows, but because i keep playing with settings. thats why i like smos. no bios mods, no messing around. set it and forget it, plug and play.
i always use +150+500 200w. all my rigs are 1080tis, but i think the same oc would work for a 1070 or 1070ti. power at ~125w i guess.

Well I switched the rigg from nicehash to single mining (Zcash) and dropped the TDP to 70%. The rigg has been stable since then..
It's not been a full day yet, but so far so good. The last week it didnt last a full night even.. I was sure it had crashed when I woke up, but happy to see it was still running.
So what do you think this means? Does this impact the riser vs psu discussion?

I will regardless of the error is on this one. Only buy ubit in the future.
Relability seems to be the key word for risers... that most seem to agree on..

my guess would be not enough power from some PSU and once you did lower your settings, that means you had lower your powers soak and PSU now is able to handle it I'd say look here.

my PSU's are
750W evga g2 supernova - powering 2 1080ti and their risers 1300w evga g2 supernova - powering the rest
Once I receive my new PSU a 1000w g2 supernova, I will have 3x GPU's on that one. And the 1300w will have 3x gpus + motherboard etc. Hopefully that will fix it. Dont like running it as low as 70TDP. Its minus 10 C outside, the heat is welcome this time of year.

Also my risers all have that light on them to show if they are working, are they just for show? or do they actually work....
