Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

herb, or is it Herb, why are the first two numbers rounded, and the latter two exact? Is Google going broke and no longer able to support the manpower to count grains of sands resorting to guessing? I wonder if they considered all the sand at the bottom of the oceans. And what about sand mixed in with dirt--multi-racial sand (bet you didn't see that coming)?

One more thing: Herb, meet Dank. <not implying anything, and only penned for added humor>

IIRC, the Earth is about 5 Billion years old. That works out to 157.788x1015 seconds. Or:
157,788,000,000,000,000 seconds.

The quoted number is off by more than a few orders of magnitude. I noticed because it was far too close to the "number of possible Bitcoin addresses" number.

Edit: initially calculated for 5 trillion years Tongue

At least he didn't claim the Earth was 1.892x1011 seconds old

Now, that would be one helluva APP! The number climbs with each passing second. And when somebody ask what time is it, they're shown the APP tickin' away... with a Timex ad underneath it.

Related, my oldest sister attends a church that tells its sheeples that the Earth is 10,000 years old.

Okay, now this is too weird. I was ready to call it a night, but headed over to YouTube to watch a couple quick videos, and look what Google suggested to me for my viewing pleasure: 158,962,555,217,826,360,000 - Numberphile. Sometimes, I feel like I'm being followed.

With that, night, all. Hope I don't dream about bears...again.  Tongue

Many, many websites use Google analytics.

Same with Facebook like buttons.
