THE COMMITTEE ON BANKING, HOUSING, AND URBAN AFFAIRS will meet in OPEN SESSION to conduct a hearing entitled, Virtual Currencies: The Oversight Role of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The witnesses will be: The Honorable Jay Clayton, Chairman, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; and The Honorable J. Christopher Giancarlo, Chairman, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

All executive sessions are webcast live and will not be available until the hearing starts. Very interesting listening. And a little disturbing. I looked like a discussion between Amish buggy drivers about how a fuel injection system works in a race car.

Although more clarity is needed in many areas, it seems that most people see the overall tone of the session as bullish.  With Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies gaining in popularity, we can expect to hear more from the regulatory bodies of governments all over the world.
