Yes, it is possible to generate an ISO image.  However, this leaves you without the read/write partition which is essentially not usable for BAMT.  Experiments with unetbootin seem to show that it doesn't help.  Bootable without rw partition works, with it fails.  Another guy found a way to use Plop to boot BAMT, but it requires 2 usb keys, he couldn't find a way to do it with one.  I guess if you dont mind using 2 keys per board then there is the solution.

Best to not purchase these boards.  If you have one, contact the manufacturer and demand they fix this bug.  It effects a wide range of things, not just BAMT..  google for their part #s and usb boot and you will see tons of people are frustrated with this.

I'm interested in the solution for the 2 USB keys. You have any link? info?

I found information about this bug since 2008. A lot of people complained, and Gigabyte doesn't give a damn about it. I'm not going to buy one of their boards again.

Thanks for the detailed answer!

It was a guy in IRC, maybe he reads these and can add some detail.  unfortunately I don't know much more other than he used PloP to do it.

The imminent new version does support 8 gpus.  It is being tested by several volunteers as we speak and provided they have good results it will be available quite soon.  PM me for download details if you want to try the prerelease image.

gpumon (and all of the BAMT tools) require ADL support, hence the results you are seeing.

Hmm so wonder why ADL isn't working.  Cards show up in aticonfig --list-adapters.  Weird.

usually because xorg.conf isn't right.  try

rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
sync;coldreboot

might help.

no, it is not decided.  however, it looks more likely to go that way.  if anyone has compelling reasons to go one way or the other, time to let us know.

in any event, the 0.4 line is done, or nearly done.  future work will be on the 0.5 line, regardless of 32/64.

Yeah, that would be cool to be able to just add a line in bamt.conf like do_mgpumon: 1
Something that would be read when you start/stop mining so it's easy to enable/disable.

there is already a setting for this in the v0.5 test build.

however, the "normal" way to make any linux box do something when it boots will work fine too.
just edit /etc/rc.local and add anything you'd like to start when the machine boots.

And then to stop it just kill the process?

There have been times that when something has changed, like a miner_id, that it keeps that hanging around sometimes on the console output and mgpumon web, and I have found restarting (on the command line) seemed to clear it up. That would be my only reason to need to restart. (I.E. Kill the process)
