@justin_m, how could you find a post which has been posted more than 2 years ago on this thread? Did someone dig it for you or you searched by yourself? But the original post seems already got deleted, Rhavar only qouted the original post.

If that name is the real name of bustabit's current owner, i do believe both of you have same name which just coincidence.

Quote
believe I'm Daniel, that I own Bustabit and that I've scammed people.

If Daniel ever scammed people, his account already got negative trust and he never online again on here, but as you can see, his account is clear and he is still online on this forum

Someone randomly reached out to me on Discord about it, and told me to Google search for my name + bustabit on Google, thats the first thing that pops up. They also sent me this image, which I have no idea where it was posted but it is a picture of me: https://cln.sh/cybpNH

I'm not saying at all that Daniel is a scammer, I have literally zero context into the situation but I know that multiple people believe I am him and that at least one believes he was scammed by him.
Here's a Twitter DM from the other day https://cln.sh/gXrLDR

Someone randomly reached out to me on Discord about it, and told me to Google search for my name + bustabit on Google,

I don't know why you worried, I find About 394,000 results from Justin Malara in google search, have we wait for 393,999 posts about Justin Malara again here?. (specific; Justin Malara+bustabit > 206 results)

Only once post about Justin Malara in 2018 here, this means nothing, you have to ignore it, same as someone make calling mistake as a wrong phone number.

My name is Justin Malara and I am NOT Daniel from Bustabit.
[...]
If there are any admins/mods or anyone that has influence in regards to this thread/story that can help me get this information out, I would be incredibly thankful if you would reach out to me.

Hi Justin,
I'm Ryan, the previous owner of bustabit. This is now a couple years ago, so my memory might be a bit off. When I sold bustabit to Daniel, someone confidently announced that Daniel is "Justin Malara". As far as I know it was just a random guess based on who knows what. Me (or Daniel) probably went with something like the standard "no comment" type response, and people have taken it as a sign it must be correct. And the more it's denied or rebutted, the more (crazy) people think that it "must be true" and that's why it's being denied.

Unfortunately I suspect your denial is just going to reignite the stupidity. There's probably some stuff you could do, like livestream yourself chatting to Daniel, but people will just go conspiracy and think it's Daniel covering his tracks.  I'm not sure the best solution, but I suspect it is just laying low and not rewarding people with interaction.

I've had some pretty nuts conversations with people, like someone saying: "Give me X bitcoin or I'm going to kill you. I know you're address, it's Y" and the address Y is wildly wrong. I'm like "Dude, I'm not giving you money and I promise you that address is wrong so please just leave them alone" and they take that as a sign they must be on to something ><

Forwarding threats to the police is probably a good idea, but I wouldn't expect much to come out of it either. :/

Check out gamblingsitefinder.com for a decent list/rankings of crypto casinos. Note: I have no affiliation or interest in it, and don't even agree with all the rankings ... but it's the only uncorrupted review site I'm aware of.

I get what you are saying, but what I am saying is that people are actively reaching out to me that are convinced I AM Daniel. When I tell them that I'm not, and that its a case of mistaken identity or someone with the same name, they don't believe me and continue to send me direct threats. They post addresses of places I lived a while back, they have my phone number - which I understand isn't the hardest thing to find, but it's disconcerting. For whatever reason, people actually believe that I am Daniel. I'm not saying bitcointalk is responsible (other than the reference to my name that I linked), but I'm asking that if anyone has any addition info as to where I'm being linked to bustabit or can clarify somehow it would be helpful.

I literally have no idea how to solve this, and its spilling into the real world atm. This is the only place where I even knew where to start.

FWIW it's not a question of mistaken identity, or two people with the same name. It's just some random theory someone made years ago, and the more it's denied the more it's stuck. Luckily for you -- only an idiot would believe you are Daniel -- as you are an American living in America. I very much doubt bustabit would've been issued a gaming license if the owner was in America, but even if they did, it's be astronomically stupid to live in America as a casino owner as I don't believe there's any real way to do so legally.

The post you're referencing is me quoting someone who says your name, so I've edited it to not contain your name ... but i'm not sure what difference it'll make.

Edit: One idea, not sure if you want to go this far. Is make a police report about the threats and in the police report explicitly deny all connections to bustabit. It's a crime to lie to the police, so it'd obviously be something that Daniel wouldn't or couldn't do. You can then send people a scanned copy of the report to show people this (and the fact that you are reporting people who make threats).

P.S. If it's any consolation, I've received enough threats that I am almost offended by the lack of them now (if no one wants you dead, are you doing something important?) after selling bustabit. I've never been ultra-secretive and done things like meet players in real life and a few people have my address etc, and I'm still alive. At least on a logical level know that people who make threats are bored internet kids who haven't been outside in the last 10 months.

From my personal experience, even though I don't live in America, I can only say that the police here have little opportunity to stop the attacks or actually protect Justin. The attacker would have to be stupid enough to reveal his own identity for the police to intervene. But I would still report the attacks and tell the attacker exactly the same way, that would most likely have a deterrent effect and show that Justin is serious.

Removing his name here from your quota was very good and I think it is the most important way to stop the accusations completely in the future, because Justin and bustabit will no longer be found together.

P.S. If it's any consolation, I've received enough threats that I am almost offended by the lack of them now (if no one wants you dead, are you doing something important?) after selling bustabit. I can also confirm this. As soon as the attacker or attackers stop, one feels neglected. Not in a way that you wish the old situation back, but still Wink

My name is Justin Malara and I am NOT Daniel from Bustabit.

Please, I'm looking for anyone that can help me clear my name. I've never owned a bitcoin, I've never worked or built or owned any type of software in the space - I don't even really know much about how bitcoins work outside of just surface level knowledge that I've picked up here and there.

Somehow my name has been attached to this site, and now there are people out there that believe I'm Daniel, that I own Bustabit and that I've scammed people. I've been told there is indisputable evidence that proves that I'm Daniel, but I've yet to see it or understand how or why people are coming to this conclusion. No one believes me, they think I am Daniel covering my tracks and trying to lay low. I have a extremely small social media footprint so I'm very confused how this could happen randomly.

If there are any admins/mods or anyone that has influence in regards to this thread/story that can help me get this information out, I would be incredibly thankful if you would reach out to me. I'm not sure how someone proves they are not someone, but I'm more than happy to hop on a call/video chat and do everything that I can to dispute or explain any evidence that links me to this site/industry.

I've received death threats against me and my family - please help me set the record straight.

Hi Daniel @Justin_m

Cool story bro it’s  actually really convincing but what I want to know is why @Devans hasn’t been online in 3 days. I think your on the wrong account Justin  Grin . Anyway  do you want to explain why you have Google Authenticator on your Gmail?

Pretty convincing logic right there. The only reason Devans who is not normally very active on these forums hasn't been online for 3 days is because he's spent the time posting a few posts as Justin. And the only reason someone would take precautions like google-authenticator for their accounts after being harassed (and no-doubt attempted social engineered) for years is, naturally, because they must be Daniel.

@Justin_m I think it's one of those things where the more you engage it, the more interesting you make it. It's almost like pizzagate, the more you say "we don't run a child-sex traffic ring in our pizza shop" the more it sounds like you do.  If I were you, I'd avoid interacting with these people as much as possible and wait until they find more stimulating uses of their time, like playing in traffic.

Getting extorted online is never fun and it sounds like you are handling it correctly.

The big thing is that you want to protect yourself and your family.  Notifying the police that you have some creep bugging you is a very smart thing to do because of "Swatting".

99.99% of online extortionists are third-world puss boys with no resources and that's what it feels like you are dealing with... Don't let it bother you.

Ignore it, report it, protect yourself and they will move on generally.

Sorry, that has happened to you.  Don't let it bug you too badly.  Put it in a box in your mind and try to forget about it.

You got nothing to worry about in my opinion and addressing it more will likely just help it rank on Google... Goole loves ranking negative shit!!!

^These type of things happen in the crypto world unfortunately, people do not know who is who and how they could find the real person so they attack everyone until they can't anymore. We all remember the "we found satoshi nakomoto!!!" period in bitcoin right? They found someone who had last name nakomoto and (was it dorian or something) and put him on TV everywhere and even got him questioned by FBI etc etc and satoshi had to come out of shadows YEARS after he was already gone and had to sign a message saying he wasn't him.

I even had something similar, My account name somewhere in crypto world was similar to someone who had scammed a lot of people, so others assumed it was me, I wrote down a simple "if I scammed people with similar name, do you really think I would open another one with same name?" and they got lower in numbers thankfully. Crypto is just nasty when it comes to these things.

Yeah, sure he mixed up accounts... Do you even reread your post before posting it?

If there was any truth to that, I think Devans would be a bit more worried.
And Google Authenticator is a good way to protect yourself, especially if idiots like you and the rest of the extortionists running around.

What shocks me more here is the fact that it seems to be something special when someone is using Google Authenticator. If anyone was wondering about this in 2013, that's fine, but especially where money, BTC and sensitive account data are involved, it is mandatory in my opinion.

Exactly!
Super happy to have such a tool and Im glad that it is also implemented into Bustabit.
There are alot of people that have alot of money in the site and that 2FA adds alot of security.

Ok, Google 2 FA is activated, surprise. Yes I care about my security.

Reported the message immediately to a moderator with the request for immediate deletion, hope it will be deleted quickly.

The call is already almost like the announcement of a headhunter bounty and should be stopped immediately. Even though I don't think that anyone will answer because I am sure devans is cautious enough to hode his personal information as good as possible.

Finally found the topic needed Smiley

Hey! Maybe someone from the Bustabit devs will read and check whether the new game is a bustabit clon or is it still another project, maybe with elements of this game?
Then there should be no complaints about this new topic with this game.  But so far all Communities have unanimously accused the OP of plagiarism.  And they cite Bustabit as a copy to copy.

According to Bustabit's License.txt, the site you mentioned is violating the terms of bustabit's open source license and should not be considered trustworthy.

At the moment it seems like this website is really a bad clone of bustabit (from design and look alone). Also, if you just check some threads and their offers, it's obvious that they are scammers. I hugely doubt scam company would buy script from bustabit and even if they bought it, then they would change the design and modify it.
Not only that but I have asked such question to RHavar because I have seen a lot of casinos, local ones that use their code and I don't like that fact. Btw I'll quote you my question and his answer:

As far as I know if someone wants to offer bustabit like game on their casino, they have to acquire license from you guys, am I correct?

People only need a license if they use bustabit's actual code. Bustabit made the old version opensource under a restrictive license that requires you to keep any changes you make also open source, and had an option to buy a license that allowed you to make changes without needing to make them also opensource. Many people however just use code and don't abide by the license, or use the actual bustabit code but try pretend they're not.

It was maybe a mistake, but bustabit never tried to control the game-concept (i.e. there's no patents or anything like that), just a copyright on the actual code that bustabit uses. Think something like lord-of-the-rings. If you want to write a book about elves and orcs and shit you don't need permission/license from Tolkien's estate. But if you want to actually use his words, you do.

I took a look at the Bab clone for fun. 30 sec in, I left and I am 99% sure it's a scam : look at the chat, it's only bot/script from the site owner, no actual conversation and no phrases over 3-4 words -> pure script.

It means that they are faking having any user, sound very scammy to me.
