I got the fluctuating hash rates with the 8700 as well. On different PC's but with the same hardware. Sometimes 400, 350 or 280 - sometimes even as low as 150. Close and re-open and it can change. Tried with XMR Stak, 2.5 and 2.7. Also tried XMRIG. ll the same.

Auto configs or manually configs?
Use JCE Miner for CPU. Best monero miner for CPU.

It looks like it is not the best of processors for mining but it is in the same league as a GTX 1060 3 Gb card when doing Cryptonight algorithm comparison. A single processor is not a great option to mine especially at this time but if you have no other option then you can always mine with a single one but the return is resulting in a loss if you don't pay cheap electricity.

The K version usually consumes more energy.

Hi guys,
i have a i7 8700k but have no information about the hashrates.
Would like to know Neoscrypt and Cryptonight hashrates of it.

I'm using XMRStack on Windows 10 and 4 threads on my desktop. Hashrate is about 300 h/s while mining Monero v 8.0

1 thread for each 2MB of L3 cache, do not use more. Consumer SKUs are bad choices due to small L3 cache sizes, used Xeon chips are the most affordable option for CPU mining. You can get chips with 20MB+ cache for $25-30 used.
