I think altcoin holding is dangerous if you don’t follow their news or Road Map and If their value rises. you need to be careful with altcoins when you plan to HOLD

Why would be dangerous? Maybe if short term profit is what you want. But you deeply searched on what altcoins you want to buy and you've really believe on their technology I don't think that will be dangerous because you will hold it for long term and have a perfect sell target.

The risk of holding the altcoins is very much. If we hold any altcoin, we first have to thoroughly research their technology. We have to ask whether the technology of the altcoin will have a positive impact on the crypto market and be used by many users. In short, we have to think a lot. If you do not have enough patience and experience then you will lose everything.

Depends which alts. You need to look at the work, the team, and the future of the alt-coin you want to invest in. Are they doing their marketing, do they have big plans, are they up to date with what they promised? It's like choosing a company stock.

It clearly depends on the project you are investing. Alts are in my opinion a bit more risky. Also you need to keep following the project to see, if those promised features are really made in time or are delayed.
I personally invest in both, since there are quite interesting altcoin projects, which are very promising and have a good team. So, yes and no, holding altcoins can be dangerous but also can be profitable in the long run.

Hodling of altcoins should not be dangerous if you invest in the right coins. If you choose projects with a real use-case, a solid roadmap/white paper, an
excellent team and big community that will be not a high risk. Shitcoins = dangerous !

Holding alts is not dangerous if you continuously monitor your alts which you properly chose. If you have done your homework in determining which potential alts you invested with, well i guess there is no danger in holding your alts because at the very start you were already on the right track. Dont just hold and sleep later, you need to keep track of your investment and be alert to act accordingly when market seems to be moving so fast and irregularly.

I think that's not true, they are down because bitcoin values come down, just look at now bitcoin rise and all altcoin values also go up. because I think almost all alccoin values follow bitcoin value if bitcoin down he will come down that's the other way around.

I think holding is the best investment method for crypto-currencies and it's much safer than trading altcoins. From what I know, many people in this forum are just buying their favorite altcoin last year and have made a lot of money since they will never miss the pump as this market has more pump then dump in the long run so it is almost profit guaranteed unless you invest in bad projects

Sometimes it is dangerous to hold altcoins too long. But will just happen if you are holding to wrong alts, because the good coins like Ethereum will grow up in the next years and you can easily hold them for a long time!

Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc)

Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox  Huh

I believe that hodling won't give us any harm or we may not worry about it. It is actually a wise decision to hodl and to wait patiently wait for our desired value in the future. Changes in the value of tokens is just a part of it's being volatile so must not worry about these changes but we must be positive and hopeful for it because it will surely give us a good profit in the future.

Of course holding for a longtime has its own risks such as the drop I was too powerful that makes the price has gone too low to 0$ but in most cases the price is soon rising back normal in a short time. So we should not too much worry about that, it will be back in the future.

Personally, I do not think holding altcoins are dangerous if you carefully pick the right one since they are a lot of promising altcoins in the market like Syscoin,Ark, Elixir,ETH, Maid, etc

it depends on the alts you hold, if the alts you are holding are famous i think it is not dangerous for long term investment, but if alts is not good then better keep it short.
because it will be very risky for long-term investment.

It make sense rebalance portfolio sometimes - obviously not everyone altcoin will survive, you need to be careful about market and be ready sell some of them.

yes that's quite true and as long as you hold altcoins which have solid team and community and at least have top 100 position on coinmarketcap i think that would be fine and indeed sometimes our altcoins investment value will decreasing if the price suddenly dropped but if those altcoins have high volume support for every exchange i think possibility to survive is pretty good

There are many altcoins that are worth hodling. To make sure I'd keep researching about certain coins of my targets and monitoring the progress of their projects. You need to know who's behind the project, the team itself along with their behavior in the forum. Also worth noting the community who's mining or trading this coin, marketcap and trade volume number can be a good object to monitor.

One you believe on the Alts that you are holding and you know it has a very good future by checking the facts around it, then just hold it. It's not dangerous at all. Soon you will reap the reward.

Holding Altcoin could be dangerous if you are not aware of market situation ! but if you invest in good altcoin then might be it will not be dangerous !
Happy Trading

It's shouldn't be called dangerous, it should be called risky if you were to ask me about this question. There are some risks and they're obviously valid in lots of application of the commodity and equity markets. This is valid on coin market then.

it depends on the altcoin you are investing ofcourse you have to be very careful there put your own criteria and what suits you Mine is basically
1- the team and how active they are on social media - telegram especially
2- altcoin features what new things the coin is bringing to the table
3- its partnership these days this is actually becoming a universal thing
4- activity on the sites and then social media
