I see a lot of ICO's doing AirDrops, or they say AirDrops are finished etc. Can someone give me an exact description and an example of what an AirDrop is exactly? What is the purpose of it during an ICO? Thanks!

An airdrop is a free coins/ token given by an ICO to their holders. It is some kind of a token rewards or incentives to their loyal customers. Giving airdrops is their marketing strategy to attract more investors and to increase many people to continue patronizing their platform.

it means you get free tokens as long as you comply to some of their requirements.
For example, I own TIO token, so when collaborate with other ICOs, they will give free token of the ICO that they collaborate with. All i need to do is to join their telegram group and free tokens will be pouring in my wallet.

This is a type of rewards where you can obtain their token by doing simple tasks. In that case if you do the task you will be rewarded by a small amount of their token. But ask of now the more ICO's are happen the more airdrops are going to be scam.
