Is it possible to deposit GBP via Paycash and then convert this balance to EUR when it arrives at Kraken?

Not at this time. But we are considering it along with other ways to address thin order books like we have for GBP.

Announcement: support.kraken.com is currently down. The site is hosted by zendesk, which is experiencing a service disruption in one of it's data centers. They are making progress on fixing the issue but haven't given an estimate for when it might be fixed. This doesn't affect our exchange operations at kraken.com, but it may mean that some customers experience a delayed response to support requests.

Looks like it's already back up, so there shouldn't be much of an interruption in support response times.

Kracken where the first to audit reserves and have always been transparent in their dealings so don't want to hassle too much but any plans on doing another audit soon or implementing verifiable reserves?

Your inquiry is welcome because people should be more insistent that exchanges do regular audits. We plan to work towards doing them more regularly, but at the present time the best I can say is that we want to do another one as soon as we can, but don't have a specific estimate.

Hey Dargo,

I created a sixth deposit address. Now one of my old addresses will expire in 7 days.  But I don't want this address to expire. How can I choose an other address from my six to expire?

Serpens - did you create a ticket about this? That would be the best way to make the request. I'm not sure if it can be done though. Currently the system sets your oldest address to expire once you create a sixth address. We plan to change this at some point so you can select the address that expires. When you create the ticket, let the agent know which address you'd like to expire instead and we'll see what we can do.

Dargo,
you should know that you break german law if you request and store a copy of german personal ID card. That's why german customers leave kraken.

No, that's not true. It's often discussed, but the european law against money-laundering is superior in this case.

Thanks for the reply and setting an example Smiley

Any thoughts on a simultaneous audits, something like announcing a date and inviting other exchanges to perform theirs at the same time? The last round of audits did a lot for trust (imho) but if there's bad actors involved with them there was plenty of time to transfer coins between exchanges.

That's an interesting suggestion, but as to whether we'd consider doing it, I don't know at this time. Have people been discussing/worrying about this scenario? I don't think I've seen it come up before.

I wrote a ticket and the expiring address was changed, thx Smiley

It hasn't come up a whole lot but I'm trying to make folks more aware of it since seeing a lot of coins dumped on a few of the more popular exchanges with no corresponding movement in transaction volume or days destroyed. They could have simply been on the exchanges beforehand but every large movement in the past has a corresponding transaction volume and days destroyed blip.

Bitfinex's swaps have me concerned too but maybe that's just me not understanding the system, 8k of swaps activated in in 2 days with only a slight rise in swap prices yet the depth of available swaps is only 2k.

That's not really the issue though, we have this revolutionary system that makes everything transparent and for the first time in history removes the need for a trusted third party in transactions yet the point at which this plugs into the legacy system requires trust and all through history that situation has resulted in that trust being abused for profit.

Exchanges implementing "enterprise grade security for users funds" is laughable in that context too. Enterprises get hacked, the blockchain doesn't, why rely on local security methods for users coins? I know its not that simple but I'm sure you get my meaning Smiley

Anyway, Kraken is the last exchange I'd want to cause any concern over, you where the first to perform an audit and that set an example to others and you've always been reliable and very transparent in your dealings. I am concerned by some others and by users acceptance of trust based exchanges when its such an important issue everywhere else in the system, that's the fiat way of doing things and it was left behind by Gox .

Yep, I understand. We certainly want to do what we can to improve the audit process. But we may need to balance that against the need to do an audit fairly soon. Again, thanks for your efforts to promote awareness of the importance of audits in the community.

Kraken is down temporarily: 504 Gateway Time-out
so sometimes it works and sometimes not -> heavy traffic or DDOS I guess?

edit:
when asking the orderbook via API I get sometimes the error "Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0)"
I guess it's because of the problem described above?

Let me know if you are still having any issues. I'm not aware of any reason for the time-out, but I'll check with someone who monitors our systems closely.

Is there an easy way to see what is available per currency in my account for trading? I thought this info was available at one point, but I can't find now?

Just go to Trade/Overview. But this also includes funds locked in open orders.

You have to go to Funding/withdraw and click on each currency to see how much is still available for trading/withdraw.

That works, thanks, but it is very cumbersome. Can we get that in a simple, single overview? For example the Trade tab, Overview, would be ideal.

We generally appreciate third parties who build useful services around our platform, so long as they aren't doing anything uncool like putting our clients at risk or infringing on our rights. We don't give any approval or endorsement of this app and our clients should understand that they use it at their own risk. At the very least, clients should limit the risk by generating a special API key for use with the app that has limited permissions (most importantly it should not have the withdraw funds permission). This probably isn't applicable here, but it would also be wise not to share the email associated with your kraken account (and in general be careful about sharing any personal information).

Yes, it is cumbersome. We have a few major projects to take care of first, but this is on the to-do list.
