@KrakenTrader: There have been orders of that size before. A few days ago (when the price dropped to $730 on Bitstamp after the BitInstant arrests) there was a big buy-wall at 575 (If I recall correctly).

I'm not entirely sure if it's the best idea to create such a large wall in a market that follows other exchanges unless you plan on pulling it (but then, why are you trying to manipulate an exchange that is not setting its own course).

Is there a list of countries (Western europe) where Level 3 verification can proceed? read somewhere that if they do not have a license in country/state they leave you level 1

it would be nice if there was a page which clearly states which countries are supported fully (if there is and i havent seen it, then sorry, i did look)

@Rannasha. Thanks, I haven't noticed those large orders then.
China celebrates the NEW YEAR on 1.2.2014. I've been hearing in all the trading circles that people expect a drop because of the china thing. So, some traders are sitting in fiat and some nervous people will cash out once they see it dropping which will cause it to drop even further.
So the guy with 98.516 BTC at 560€ may just have taken place on a comfortable buy position.

and @KrakenTrader:

This wall was created at the same time period (~one hour) when 100BTC walls were created at 540€, 560€ and 575€. As Rannasha said it was right after this "crash".  So I would say all these walls were from the same person (because of same time period and same size), so he deposited these ~180000€ about at least two months.
The 540wall is removed already.  And the 575 wall was cleared during the morning (european time) after the "crash". Other exchanges went down again, but kraken did not go under 575€ Wink

and yes, these are very very large orders compared to normal kraken-orders Cheesy

@Serpens66: Thanks. Your explanation makes sense. I was waiting in a 571 buy position during the morning but it didn't drop that far, and I was left kinda wondering why.
Would you say he set those walls to influence the rates ? ( many people will put orders in front of his, so price is unlikely to drop that deep as it would without those walls )
What could be his strategy ( if any ) ?

I don't really know, what the strategy could be... but obviously it ensures that the price does not fall that fast. So I think it's a good thing for the volume of kraken and for the bitcoin price in general, as long there is a guy who is buying a lot of coins Cheesy
Of course a big order like that on a small exchange could influence people to buy at higher rates like you said. But I don't think he pushes the price, because kraken is one of the lower € price at the moment (btc-e 593€, bitcoin.de 589€, kraken 583€).

Kraken should consider doing something similar to the market maker fee system currently being offered by BTCChina

I think it would do wonders for volume, which could lead to being able to actually use the advanced trading features that are currently restricted for many currency pairs because of low volume.

Hi Smiley

I'm waiting for Tier 3 verification since the 19th of January. Is it normal at the moment? bitcoin-central and bitstamp validated my proofs within 1 day.
I'm in Austria so proof of residence is in German. Is it a problem for you?
If it helps, my account number: AA12 N84G 23S6 3RKI

Best!

To sum up discussion above about the two display issues, people are 1) experiencing an an issue with the recent trades and order book sometimes not displaying and 2) an issue with the drop down chart. We'll look into this, but I haven't been able to reproduce any of it so far.

For those wanting bitcoin-euro or litecoin-euro charts, I recommend just using bitcoinwisdom - the charts are far better than what we provide.

http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/kraken/btceur

http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/kraken/ltceur

We think we have a diagnosis of 1) and 2) above. But it's an issue inherent in one of the languages we use, and It'll likely take a while to find out exactly what's wrong so when it'll be fixed isn't known.

This is likely also the culprit in some cases when other services are temporarily "unavailable" for some users.

I'm told we contacted you through support on 1/16 via the email address associated with your account. I'm not sure why you didn't get that, but it may be in your spam folder. We also replied to the ticket you created for this issue about 30 minutes ago. We need to see expiration dates on IDs, and some IDs have this on the back of the card, so we need a scan of the back of the card in that case. That's what slowed the process down and it may be that Bitstamp doesn't require it so your scans weren't an issue with them.

Indeed, no mail arrived.
The back of my identity card has been just uploaded.
Many thanks for your quick reply here, and by mail on the 16th although it did not survive to the network Smiley It's the opportunity to repeat here what I said when opening the support ticket : You are the best trading platform by far. Advanced trading options, high limits, good volumes, nice interface, good API, low fees...

Still waiting for a confirmation of why my funds aren't received after my bank confirmed that they have gone through the intermediary. One message from support which I replied to and nothing since my reply on 27th and numerous other tickets...

Something is seriously broken with BTC deposits on Kraken. Yesterday I was given BTC deposit address, which is not unique as I realized later after sending BTC to this address and wondering why it is not showing up in my kraken account - in blockchain, there are 183 transactions depositing to this address and current balance of this address is over 600 BTC. This is some serious bug as I don't understand how would kraken understand which deposit was mine (thanks god only little over 0.5BTC), because deposit addresses must be always unique (or reused in some safe way). This wrong deposit address is still showed in my account under deposit BTC address with status "expires in 5 days". I've create support tiket for this issue under my public account id "AA70 N84G UGR4 I6QA".

Is anybody competent able to comment how will kraken solve this issue?

It's an open question as to whether there is anyone competent to comment on how the issue will be solved, but perhaps what you really wanted to hear was some informed dialogue on the matter from official Kraken sources and it's possible that that may occur in due course.

I'd be happy with a straightforward, "It's fixed."

Me too. I assume bug caused same deposit address for many accounts. But can't  imagine, how 183 anonymous transactions worth 689 BTC will be correctly distributed to affected accounts, and how long does it take.

We'll let you know about all this as soon as we have further information. Bug fixes require diagnosis, solution and testing - and it's generally not easy to estimate how long this process will take. As for the plan to correctly distribute funds to affected accounts, we obviously want to take a bit of time and make sure we design a plan that is as sound and as efficient as possible. We understand that it's good for you to have quick answers, but we hope you understand that it's not good for us to rush through this. We're sorry this issue came up in the first place, but it will get resolved and we appreciate everyone's patience as we work through the resolution carefully.

I work in same field and things like this just happens, so I understand everything you said, but this is rather rare situation even for me, when thinking about possible solutions. Thats why I expressed my doubts and I estimate it will take very long time to resolve, but I believe you resolve it at the end.  I appreciate you acknowledge the issue and are working on it and hope it will not happen with my future deposits I'm going to make in next days again.

Anyway, lesson learned even on this side - to always check the address you are sending BTC to in blockchain.
