I'm getting around 2% rejected/stale.  Is this normal or did I over-overclocked my cards?

Over how long a time period did you get the numbers from?

over a period of time the rejected percentage should be below 2%.

It's been around a week.  It's less than 2%; I just rounded it up.

Seems a bit high? I've been on this for about 4 days or so and I'm 36099 with 167 stale or about 0.5%

Does the mining pool affect this rate?  I'm using Slush's pool.

The pool server latency and your hashrate affect these, as well as the miner you use. Make sure you have one that supports Long Polling.

I have long polling, a pool with 50ms ping, and a hashrate of 100Mhash/s and I am getting 2.8% stale

I use GUIMiner and mining.bitcoin.cz (Slush's pool).  I don't think this pool has long polling.

I just switched to bitminter.com and try it for a week or so to see if there is a difference.

I am using GUIMiner at btcguild. Tried bitminter for about half hour to see how it goes. Personally it seems that the Java miner isn't as good as using poclbm in guiminer. I was getting about 380Mhash on poclbm with almost no impact on usability but on the Java miner only 355Mhash (despite upping settings and making the system rather sluggish) so you might want to continue using guiminer.

I was getting around 405-410 with GUIMiner, but now I'm getting 415-420 with the bitminter miner.  According to the miner's programmer, it's optimized for cards with vliw4 (Caymen based cards), but he's working on vliw5 cards (older cards).

I run different miners (minerd, cgminer, ufasoft) on several different machines with different OS's for three different pools (notroll.in, bitminter and deepbit) on two wholly different internet connections and across the board I am averaging 5-6% stales.

Any suggestions?
