it's more ideal if you already have hardware on your main computer and let it mine, than to go out and buy dedicated miners. however, you can still build a dedicated mining rig, but with the current BTC prices, it's less profitable and will take much longer to pay itself off. if you're ok with that, then go for it

I'm doing it for the heat and for fun Smiley

I had a spare Pentium IV PC with a single PCI-E socket, so spent $220 on a card and $120 on a PSU. Since it's winter here at the moment, the heat is the important feature.

Now all I need is one of those fake burning logs to stick in the case...

I built a rig a couple of months ago, it is making almost half as much profit compared to when I started simply due to increased difficulty. I wonder how much more it will go up before people stop jumping on to mine.
