Could you please elaborate on the “UK re shipping service”? If shipping is done within the EU, you will not do shipping directly, but through a UK re-shipping service? What’s the advantages of doing so?

if I have dealt with you before then I will ship direct, if not I will be shipping via a trusted party.

Which escrow service is this that releases funds before the buyer verifies the goods are received?  I want to make sure to never use them or deal with anyone that recommends them.  Maybe that's why nobody will buy anything from you anymore?

I think I've seen that be offered several times. I didn't follow the trade to see how it ended, and don't know if it actually happened.
It was like, seller ships to minerjones and the escrow is released upon minerjones' confirmation of item retrieval, then mj reships to the buyer.
I don't exactly remember if minerjones was also acting as escrow or if it was a completely different person.
minerjones is someone I totally trust with the handling of my items.
I wouldn't mind having minerjones as a trusted intermediary in any transaction I'm involved. I wouldn't mind having you as well, Og, as a trusted intermediary.

A dishonest buyer can always claim that he received an empty envelope or package, or something worthless and not agreed on.
A dishonest seller can send a package with a totally different coin, like a €1 or $1, and claim he sent the item.
That dispute would be seller's word against buyer's.

You make good points. Seems weird to introduce additional costs and points of failure as a way to improve trade, but I can see why this might be preferred in a scenario with an absence of trust.

I now use the ship to minerjones, seller gets paid on mj receipt, mj forwards to buyer method when I am the buyer.

I need to use this method as I travel more than 200 days per year due to work so I cannot release payment on receipt of goods - sometimes for up to 4 weeks.  This way, i send mj the bitcorns, when mj receives the goods he forwards payment to seller and hangs onto my goods until I am somewhere I can receive mail. 

This system works well for me as a buyer.  To be honest, when it comes to selling I am rarely/never asked to use escrow so just send directly to buyer.

It has to be a very trusted 3rd party because they get sent the item and the BTC to pay for it. Which makes no sense to me. Personally I think the same person should not hold the BTC and the item when they are escrow

I think what you are missing is the fact that I trust minerjones (or ognasty for that matter, but he does not do that type of escrow) to hold both the btc and the item.  It is the very definition of trusted escrow that I think you do not properly understand.
