If you don't think that Bitcoin Talk is a popular forum for tech discussions about Bitcoin, you should take a look at the stats for this thread.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.0
It's in the speculation sub-board, and its received over 20 million views.

You are miising out if you don't visit the speciality boards here.

The speculation board is extremely useful for finding information about obscure or unknown coins that have some potential,
or to make an overview about what coins are "en vogue" at a certain point in time.
However there are a lot of spam and ad driven topics that you need to have a lot of patience and some experience to filter a good topic from a bad one.
And a lot of fake news and wishful thinking without any real base.
But, after all, the forum is called "speculation", so there is nothing really foolproof.
Btw, is there a way to order topics by the time when they were created and not by the time of the last post?
This would be useful in some subforums, but I could not find such an option.

If you don't think that Bitcoin Talk is a popular forum for tech discussions about Bitcoin
Do not represent a point of view.
You have 39 views, not 39 people view your post "In fact 22 of them by me".
Some accounts are posting daily on that wall "more than 1000 view for some accounts".

Well I haven't posted in the thread, and I haven't read more than a couple of the posts. However, 20 million views is still a high number of visits. I think there are better threads on that board, and I've been active in a couple of them, and I've even awarded some merits there. My purpose in starting this thread was to try to get members to explore some of the boards other than the Frog Pond and Meta. Smiley

I'm pretty sure OP never said "Wow, over 20 Million People watch that board", they were simply stating an interesting fact that even on a board that is buried within another board is attracting a phenomenal and extraordinary amount of attention in relation to where it is being presented.

Your point does not take away or change anything that is mentioned in OP, 20-million views on an obscure board buried deep within the forum is impressive, there is no other way around it. I'm sure there are accounts that only post in there and contribute many posts and views, but does that make the view-count and reply-count any less impressive? It is this way for views all over the internet.

I can't even follow that thread, because it moves at such a fast pace I just can't bring myself to do it. I personally like to follow other boards, but OP has a point, the specialty boards offer something for everyone.

In 5 years, you need 20 Million views in a few months to be impressive. you would like 20 Million views for your domain advertisement in frog pond?

That thread wasn't really meant for reading the previous posts.
We always read that thread for the latest edit in the OP Poll results. That thread was more useful than you think.
Ads in the thread were merely few to none, most replies are comments and "chats" from regular visitors than mumbles.

I get the feeeling that it is a "coffee lounge" for traders. That's a gret idea for thread though, and it woud be great to have a few more of those themed threads that contained informed discussions. "Will Bitcoin replace banks" is a bit jevenile, and not quite the same thing. Smiley

Non-unique views do not add to the count. AFAIK, it's discrete data based on accounts & guest viewings. (I'm not sure if there is a IP-based uniqueness for the view counts)

That's a thread worth reading, despite the fact I'm not a trader. Much more interesting than endless new threads about bitcoin going up or down in the 'Bitcoin Discussion' section.

SMF software considers 1 view per IP per 24 hours. Basically, it works like this, there is maybe a setting to tweak but I doubt.
SMF also consider link posted on Twitter as views, even if no one clicked the link. If someone is automating the topic to be posted there then here we go

SMF software considers 1 view per IP per 24 hours.

I cannot find any documentation on this. Are you able to reference where you found this information? I feel like every time I refresh a thread, checking for a new reply it almost always adds a view; I guess this must just be coincidence.

Also, this forum is very customized at this point, could be the case that it has been changed (not sure why it would've been).

This thread takes alot of time to get 20 M, if this thread was in the altcoin section it will have 100 M views

I see many other threads get 2 or 3 Million  views in less than 6 month.

That still proves that OP's claim for bitcointalk being the most or one of the most popular forum site for technical discussion about Bitcoin. Nevertheless, even if some here does have an alt account, it is still a fact that bitcointalk have many users(what I'm pertaining is individuals) visiting daily. For now I do hope OP's purpose would be fulfilled.

Who doesn't think that this forum is popular for any kind of Bitcoin discussions? Isn't near 2 Million account sign ups enough to prove that? Do we really need to use threads as references to demonstrate the popularity of this forum to people? I know that there are no limitations on creating accounts, so anyone can have any amount of accounts in here, but despite that fact, I think 2 Million is a very large number.

I think you have missed the whole point of this thread. The idea is to get people out of the frog pond, and onto the specialist boards.

I don't know what a bords is. Wink It would be nice if more users could find a "home" on some more specialty boards; right now there are far too many people spamming Bitcoin Discussion with anything they can think of (even if it has been discussed a million times prior) with the misdirected goal of creating a mega-thread. They try to fit and force the discussion so that it melds into the one or two boards they are aware of, instead of using the forum to have discussions they may actually be interested in.

I think my "a" is worn out, and I've corrected that thanks.

Actually a "bord" is a mining term, and it is a coal face parallel to a natural fissure, so it could well be apposite. Smiley

I might try to skip read that thread, as I'm getting quite interested in some of the stats and chartist theories. Now that major investment groups are starting to look at Bitcoin as an investment, I think we are going to need some tools to give us advanced notice of their activities.

I think that speculation board was called so cause of it is full of proved and unproved predictions about coins and opinions. The biggest percent of information on this board can be called simply, FUD. But what about the forum - I clearly know what wight in crypto community it has, the number of users is coming to 1 million.

No worries, I knew what you meant and I'm sure everyone else did as well. I have keyboard chatter in my keyboard, so it double types every single key and I have to go back and edit like mad; I feel your pain.

Learn something new everyday, I'm sure we can find a way to use "bord" in discussions about crypto-mining and pretend like it was intentionally spelt that way to begin with.

I might try to skip read that thread, as I'm getting quite interested in some of the stats and chartist theories. Now that major investment groups are starting to look at Bitcoin as an investment, I think we are going to need some tools to give us advanced notice of their activities.

Give it your best shot, I try to refresh like mad, skim the thread just enough to get the bare minimum of information and I still cannot keep up. It might be nice if you're able to warn the rest of us of such activity if you can get the hang of the thread. I have some chartist theories that I've picked up from trading Forex, which will be relevant if banks start getting involved.
