Merits for starting up a new & good topic should be generated automatically

Just an Idea though.. It is quite frustrating to post a topic that attracted so many replies and views (maybe 500replies & 1300views) and all you get for such a hot topic is just 1 activity. I know some highly ranked members have been given the opportunity to give merits for a good topic, but I still feel it will be better if merits are given automatically to authors according to the number of replies and views your post was able to attract. Let's say 500 replies = 1 merit and 1000 views = 1 merit.  What do you think?

A lot of people reply to this topic also can't say this topic is to have quality to make sense!

Quantity doesn’t necessarily entail quality. It’s easy to write a trollpost that generates lots of replies and degenerates into a spam megathread. I don’t like the idea of automatic merits. We already have the activity metric which is based on simple quantity.

This could easily be abused. AFAIK a view is counted like in YouTube, each time you view the thread, it increases regardless If you've seen it before or If you're logged in your account or not. One could always spam share his thread in social media to get views, run HitLeap etc. Also, a merit is given to a constructive post (could be a reply) and not necessarily a thread(which in this case, your suggest won't work as there are no views for replies) and a big thread doesn't necessarily means It's useful or constructive.

Subconsciously we actually reply to some because thier subjects are catchy, that's the reason why some new  topics gets more replies and views than some. So you cannot say the idea is completely useless..

I think this idea sir given by those people who can't gather some merit... It's really easy to get 500 replies or thousands views... But it's really not easy to make a quality post... So try to make quality posts and your merit will increase.

I do not want to be concerned about merit again, I will follow the current system
yesterday I proposed an opinion, and I was considered begging merit ago in giving red trust by lauda
and I'm sure this merit system is correct no need to change again, we just need to improve the quality of our posts,Let others judge whether our post is useful or not
If the reader thinks we post is useful, they will certainly give a merit, if not then let's say we post is useless and need to learn again to make a more constructive post

There are countless threads like "do you think bitcoin has a future?" or "is bitcoin a scam?" which are obviously totally pointless, but they have tens of pages of responses, which are also pointless and "filler" comments as well. So just because a thread has many replies or views doesn't mean that the thread is constructive.

Actually, in my experience, the longer a thread is, the more it is full of filler comments. A constructive discussion is generally over within ten pages at most.

First of all this post should be posted in Meta section not in bitcoin discussion , after that the idea is not applicable since the number of replies or views does not mean that the topic has a good quality , anyone can create a topic with an attractive title so it can be viewed by many people but the main subject could be only shity , so I don't think this is a good solution , I can't imagine a topic with more than 1K views with a very good quality not getting a merit anyway .

This will encourage spam. And also make posts regarding meta system in Meta section.

The merit system is not perfect and I saw many good posts and comments but they didn't receive any merit points while some stupid posts got ones (maybe from their friends or alts)
Your idea will not solve the problem, any member can start a thread insulting another member in it or accusing a member, such threads attract viewers but they don't deserve to be merited.

I know it's frustrating, and I know it's easy for me to say this having been grandfathered 1000 merit points, but it's supposed to be difficult to get merits.  The whole point of introducing this system was to make people work hard in order to rank up, to weed out all the shitposters who want everything handed to them on a golden shitposting platter.  It's not supposed to be easy for noobs or anyone else to rank up, and you have to be patient in addition to upping your writing quality. 

Also, I don't think any of these threads complaining about the merit system are going to do a lick of good.  It took a whole bunch of chaos and time for Theymos to finally do something about the influx of idiot posters, and I seriously doubt he's going to fine-tune this in order to placate a bunch of newbies.

This would be a great idea if the goal was to completely do the opposite of what the merit system is supposed to do; this way we can give incentive to create mega-threads, spam-comments and alts talking to one another in order to farm merit and rank up. Many other users have already mentioned that this would be extraordinarily abuse-able, and I honestly do my best to try to find reasonable parameters and compromises that might change a proposal/idea to make it a tad more feasible, less divisive and more implementable; this idea I cannot find how to make it work without completely giving this forum a new virus.

500-Replies and 1000 Views for 1-merit is a bit silly anyways, because you can just sit on your own thread refreshing the page for more views; should everybody be able to be their own merit source? Refreshing the page 1000 times should not generate 1-merit. 500-replies could easily just be a few alt accounts replying back and forth to generate merit as well; plus, why should the thread creator get all of the merit if replies are generating merit? It would seem reasonable that those partaking in the discussion should be equally entitled to the merit they helped generate.

I don't think it's a good idea because most people post to a topic that is easy to give comments and replies and not because it is a good or useful topic. I think merits should be use to where it is intended to be, the person, the topic and the quality of post that deserves merits should receive it and not for a hundreds of replies and views it can get.

Sounds like this will encourage people to create new accounts to reply to the thread to earn fake merit. Also, what's to keep you, as the thread creator, from visiting your thread 50 times a day to get your views up?

Why can't you be satisfied with the current system?

Realize two things:

(1) that if you write good thoughts you'll get rewarded, and

(2) merit is fucking imaginary...you don't need it.

It is a completely useless suggestion and it should be pretty obvious why. It would just cause the exact issue that merit is trying to prevent because people would just spam worthless threads just to get merit. If you want to gain merit then create a thread or post that is worthy of it but people shouldn't get it automatically just for creating any old thread as it would instantly be abused.
