opted to go with multibit after bitcoin-qt simply would not grab non-corrupted database files.  over... .and over.... and over again.  multibit is great.  Smiley

I just checked the current Bitcoin Client v. 0.8.5 for viruses and got a hit:

VirusTotal Report for bitcoin-0.8.5-win32-setup.exe

https://www.virustotal.com/de/file/6f6b8fd68f56a8e700090267c53aa592b9c9e5c993f44c7be11ba9b87e1f92bb/analysis/1382185873/

AhnLab-V3 Trojan/Win32.BitCoinMiner

It is probably a good idea to contact the Ahnlab Antivirus to verify and remove the false positive,
as this makes a bad impression for anyone checking the official Bitcoin Client with Virustotal.

Ahnlab is the market leader in AV-technology in South Korea,
so this is should really be an issue for asian Bitcoin users.  Undecided

Most likely not. I was just pointing out the problem with a false positive. This does not mean that there is a technical problem with the Bitcoin client. But there is a psychological problem if it shows up as a virus in even just one of the scan engines at Virustotal, of course.

But when it's complete you'll rest assured knowing that your bitcoins are safe.

Why bother? They will release a new version by then anyway.
And soon you will need an ASIC to keep up. Wink

Export your private keys and import them into multibit.

7 days?  Jezus, you want to be complaining about your ISP before the blockchain dude;  I did a fresh install last night in what can't have been more than 8 hours, probably a lot less, I wasn't paying close attention.

The plan is to release 0.8.6 some time this week, and 0.9.0 in January.

Hello guys I have a couple of questions about Bitcoin-QT. When I originally installed the program I did not encrypt the wallet. I bought some bitcoin (small amount) and received it using the "generate address button". My question is now that I have encrypt it can I still use the button to generate a address or do I have to use the original one I created. Also if some one sends me bitcoin to my encrypted wallet will it need the passphrase to accept or will it just accept automatically like the first time (after the confirmations)?....one last questions will there be any fees charged to me if I receive like 5+ bitcoins?

You can still receive coins automatically without any extra work.

You can use your original address or generate another one (I use different addresses depending on why I received the money)

You will need to supply your wallet passphrase when you send coins

Fees are paid by the sender, not the receiver.

I read somewhere that synchronizing the blockchain would go faster in this release.
It however still takes a lot of time, even after already having downloaded and imported the 9GB torrent file discussed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145386.0
