What possible demand would there be if they were put on an exchange?

These tokens are pretty much the definition of worthless and always were.

They really threw away alot of good will with them.

Just wanted to check its not going to be a problem.

It's an HD wallet so all the old addresses are completely valid and will always be valid with the same seed. I use old addresses on there quite often and it all goes fine. It'll combine outputs from the old address with any other ones if you've received on other addresses.

If you want to check, not that you need to, click on accounts and then sign message and it'll show you all your addresses.
Excellent, I thought that'd be the case.   Ideally I want to shift all the BTC into a new address to get the cheapest transaction fee possible when sending priority, this is because I need it to clear fast for a price fix.   But the actual consolidation doesn't have to be fast, I sent something economy the other day and it took a few hours to confirm which is fine.

Does the wallet have a certain method to consolidate separate accounts and keys into one balance that would then go more cheaply then any address that has multiple in/out transactions on it.   I would guess this isnt possible as it has to be cleared via the blockchain which is another fee but if it has these multiple addresses anyway is it possible to clean it up a bit perhaps.

I should already know this but I've been using alt coins for years with block time under a minute and a penny cost.  However the non crypto company I deal with now prefers I send from a BTC private wallet only, to the point where its a bad price if I dont so its worth me finding out the cheapest method for the future.

It doesn't matter if they are in the same address or different. Each time your receive a tx its going to create a new unspent output.

So, you are still going to have the same choice of outputs for any transaction. I think spending money to combine your outputs is counter productive. Having all your receives into one address doesn't change the underlying protocol.

What about the MT tokens?  scammed?

the case MT is the reason why i do not use myceliumwallets and only check this thread once in half a year , the time off investing was another time and bitcoin was a lot cheaper , but when i look at the present my investment in MT is a lot of $ right now

You can spend back to yourself, but unless you use a wallet that lets you chose the outputs yourself, and set a very low fee and wait for it to confirm, it seems like much ado for nothing.

The wallet should pick the best outputs for any spend you do. having a bunch of smaller outputs makes it easier for it to find a more exact match to your spend.

At least, that's my understanding of it at this point. Dust consolidation at current tx fees is not worth it afaict.

Hi guys,

I used the Mycelium app to send $50 AUD worth of BTC directly to my ledger nano s hardware wallet via a bitcoin ATM. I followed the instructions here under the sub heading 'Mobile HD Watch-only Wallets', importing my xPub.

https://coinatmradar.com/blog/how-to-buy-bitcoins-at-atm-directly-to-hardware-wallet/

The transaction has been confirmed (0.00435BTC of unspent output - see link below). I've since realised that my ledger transacts my BTC on the SegWit blockchain, which I now know Mycelium doesn't support, and the BTC balance has not been added to my wallet.

https://blockchain.info/unspent?active=1DHkYjsRSPC6aWgfVcWcxbgyyVmzUv33Y8&format=html

Any ideas on what to do, if anything? Realise this is my fault for jumping the gun without doing my research. I raised a ticket with Mycelium but they're unresponsive.

Cheers,

djam

If you indeed sent to the address: 1DHkYjsRSPC6aWgfVcWcxbgyyVmzUv33Y8

Then your BTC are NOT on a SegWit address. SegWit addresses are either a "3" or "bc1" address. You should be able to load up the Ledger Wallet app in Chrome and select "Bitcoin" and "Legacy" and you should be able to see your BTC.

You didn't accidentally send to a BCH address did you? Huh

What happens if you have the BTC app open on your Ledger Nano S, but you select "Bitcoin Cash -> Legacy" or "Bitcoin Cash -> Split"... Can you see the xpub in Mycelium? If so, you need to put it into https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ as the "BIP32 Root Key"

- Click BIP32
- Set "Client" to "Custom Derivation Path"
- Set "BIP32 Derivation Path" to m/0

See if you can find 1DHkYjsRSPC6aWgfVcWcxbgyyVmzUv33Y8 in the generated addresses... Also, double check that the xpub in Mycelium is the same as the xpub you get in the Ledger Chrome wallet (click on the Account -> Click "Account Settings" -> Click "Export")

xPub in Mycelium and the xPub in ledger nano s (segwit) both match exactly.

There's a zero balance in BCH for both Main and Split on my ledger, so didn't send it there.

I just followed the steps you outlined for iaincoleman.io/bip39/ and 1DHkYjsRSPC6aWgfVcWcxbgyyVmzUv33Y8 is indeed one of the generated addresses.

Any ideas?! Thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated.

Ok... so it looks like what is happening is that Mycelium gave you the "1" address (which you sent coins to) for the private key... but the ledger SegWit wallet is showing the "3" addresses generated by the xpub/xprv ...

To import the HW wallet into Mycelium you shouldn't import the xpub manually, you should connect the wallet and use the "Add New Account -> Advanced -> Import a Ledger-HD-Account" option and then walk through the process.

If you do this now, does it show the BTC? Or is it showing a different xpub? If it shows a different xpub (most likely the same xpub as "bitcoin -> legacy") then you'll probably have to do some private key exporting to be able to recover the BTC.

Yes, seems that's exactly what has happened.

When I connect my ledger to my phone and import it via "Add New Account -> Advanced -> Import a Ledger-HD-Account" I get an error message saying 'no accounts found'. The only account I'm using is on the SegWit chain, not the Legacy chain, so it's not importing an xPub.

How would I go about the private key exporting to recover my funds?

Thanks again

WARNING: doing this increases the potential of exposing your Ledger seed... you should seriously consider moving all your coins and then resetting the Ledger to create a new seed if you do this.

You'd need to use something like https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

Download a copy of it... and run it on an "offline" computer... preferably using a "live" CD/USB with networking disabled etc... The reason for this is that you need to put your Ledger seed into the BIP39 Mnemonic Code Converter this time... not just the xpub... you need the seed so you can generate your addresses AND the matching private keys.

24 word seed goes into the "BIP39 Mnemonic", click "BIP44" tab... it SHOULD show the correct addresses (and matching private keys) at the bottom. If you don't see the  1DHkYjsRSPC6aWgfVcWcxbgyyVmzUv33Y8 address, you'll need to play with the Derivation Paths to see if you can find it... maybe try clicking the BIP32 tab... select "Custom Derivation Path" and set it to m/49'/0'/0' and see if it displays there...

I sent 1.25 btc from Mycelium at 2017-12-07 03:02:17 (utc)
135 sat/byte
It's been more than an hour now, and 0 confirmations.
I used the default fee.
Was that too low?

Checking https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/blocks/1, I see blocks are coming more slowly.  498024 took more than half an hour, and the two before it were a little slow too.  What's up with that?  And I still have no confirms.

Please wait for a couple of minutes or hours. Seems like there are a lot of unconfirmed transactions. If you can't wait then you can use free transaction accelerator like viabtc.

Currently transactions with a tad under 140 satoshi/byte have been confirmed. See https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/ for a graphical representation.

But if you are unlucky and have an urgent transaction, there is no need to use the expensive or unreliable transaction accelerators, because Mycelium has its own transaction accelerator built-in. It uses the change of the original transaction with CPFP (Child Pays For Parent).

  • Go to the TRANSACTIONS tab,
  • tap to select the problem transaction, most likely the topmost one,
  • tap the menu button or the three dots/squares in the top right,
  • and tap the "Bump Fee (CPFP)" command.

Mycelium is better than most people think it is.

Do not quote something from me that I have not written.

Apart from that I stand by my original statement.

ViaBtc accelerator does work and I have used it two days ago, It's simply that a lot of people are sending their transactions and there is an hourly limit so you need to be fast.
