Hi all,

I am a new users of the forum (new in comparison with older ones). I strongly believe in the good things that merit system can bring to our forum and our community here. It's good in general despite of some drawbacks which should be taken into consideration and, of course, outside the discussion of the topic.

In the topic, I would like to propose a better designed for statistics of merit points that topic's creators received from others. Currently, as you can see in the announcement of Theymos, forum's admin, about "Merits and new ranking requirements", at the OP, there are lots of merit senders to Theymos.
This one:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
Personally, I think this one makes the OP, and other threads, which have considerable merit senders, look a little bit messy.

My proposal for the case is "How about a drop-down list of senders for each topic/ thread?" I think this one will help topics/ threads have better interface. With this one, users who interested and would like to know who sent those merits, and how much did they send can click on the drop-down list for more details. If not, they simply read the OP or thread. It might be easier to follow topic, thread, and saving time for readers/ users, too. Further adjustment likes ascending/ descending drop-down list of merits' senders should be considered carefully, too.

Please discuss more about this one, and of course, if this one interested, promising, Theymos or moderators might pay attention to this and make adjustment for the forum.

The idea suddenly emerged when I found other topic by chance, then I also discussed about this drop-down list in the following thread:

I posted the same suggestion two minutes after you posted this (link). What a coincident. Anyway, since you posted it first (and with better grammar than me (xD)), I locked my topic.

Anyway, I agree that the merits statistics shouldn't be shown unless requested.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

it's not needed because that only that thread of Theymos has this situation. Because it's a special thread announcing Merit system. I dare you that there will never be a other thread receive such lots of merits like that.

Thanks for your quick reply, but you are missing a point. The merit system has experienced only over 1 week, so by now it doesn't matter. Nevertheless, over time this one will be a tiresome, annoying issue.

Excellent topic on design of merit statistics. I think Theymos should look at it. As time pass, valuable topics or threads will received lots of merits, which will  result in messy appearance. Drop-down list might be a good solution to keep the forum clear, user-friendly.
I believe and I do not think that no one in the forum want to look at a topic which is messy, both at the OP and threads inside. It will be a bad appearance, and make users spend more time to find good posts in those topics.

Drop-down list can improve merit system appearance, too.
