Control shitposters/spammers in this forum with this simple trick.

I have a suggestion to our dearest admin or moderators about the increasing problem of shitposters/spammers here in this forum. How about banning accounts that currently shitposts atleast ten per account on international or english boards? As a concerned member of the community I think this idea might lessen shitposters and spammers in the said boards in this Bitcoin community since these kind of people will not stop spreading trash and contribute nothing but shits just to be paid in signature campaigns. I was once a shitposter too but then I realize I need improvements and I think I did it already and hopefully these shitposters/spammers will be doing the same thing too. What I did right now is finding ways on how I can contribute for the good of this community and I think this is how it begins.

In my opinion, give time for this merit system to show the results. After the introduction of this new system, do you feel the difference? or remained the same as it was before the merit system is applied. I'm sure admin has the statistical data for comparison. Maybe after three months could be considered another adjustment if the merit system is not as expected.

After introduced merit system here in forum, I would classify this thread itself as (paid) spam.
Better concentrate at high quality threads, what is without doubt in your ability. The more we moan about spammers, the higher the likelihood that signature campaigns will be forbidden. Then you will see, that you will soon have no spam anymore, but also no signature campaigns.
And I don't see increasing shitposters/spammers here since merit system was introduced.
Btw: Spammers are already banned permanently or temporarily.

Yeah I think you are right but it is better to post such suggestion this time for me not to forgot in the coming days or months. Though the merit system itself is a good start to counter shitposting and spamming but will not kick the asses of those violators at all. Sorry but it is not my intention to post a (paid) spam thread most especially here in meta just to get or attract everybody's attention. If you find this thread a (paid) spam thread then why not report it to mods? If signature campaigns will be forbidden shitposters and spammers will still be here if not reported or banned. You don't see it increasing by now of course but how about the coming months or years? So I think jondel is right we need to wait for the result of the merit system maybe three months from now and let's see what will happen. Anyways thanks for the critics and suggestion I appreciate it.

Some of those members are banned sometimes. But this will not solve the problem, they will start trying the same with other accounts. The current change which was done has allowed moderation of all accounts here without much interference from the staff.

You have a good idea but not better. In my opinion if the admin will take your suggestion you are included to be banned as you yourself once shitposter as what you said.
Let us give sometime to this merit system as this isn't already months ago but just a few days. Even merit is not perfect but I believe it will make the forum better than before. Those who abuse the merit was caught and the admin stay awake to do their job so far.

I think by doing that we must know what are the criteria of a shitpost before doing that kind of system, because some of us thinks that the posts are shitpost and some of us thinks that it is not so we must know whether it is a shitpost or not because we have different perspectives but in this case i think this will also heal the community but it will take a long process.

I wouldn't be opposed to OP's ideas, but there would have to be someone judging what constitutes a shitpost, and I don't think Theymos or any mods are going to take that on.  And I also think that the merit system is Theymos's solution to the shitposting problem at this point, and we all just have to see how it works out--in other words, the solution has already been implemented, and OP's isn't going to fly. 

And remember, these idiots who shitpost are a big reason why this forum makes so much money for the owner(s).  Banning them all would derail the gravy train.

That would be moving backwards, as we have already tried mods tagging/banning accounts that break the rules.

The reason TRUST and MERITS were created/invented is to decentralize the forum rule enforcement by moderators, and move it into the hands of regular users.

There is one more demerit of this approach. By banning new member making low quality initial posts, you are just eliminating the chances for him to improve. There is strong probability of a person improving his post quality after learning the rules here. For instance, suppose a member joined for signature campaigns. Later, when he applies for one, he notices that the manage is approving applicants only with good profile. He will then be forced to improve and we can see more effort being put in his posting here.

Do you know the fact that , there are TONS of spam accounts were created and banning isn't the solution, spending time on figure them out is much more than create and spam posts? When the number of mods are limited and they can't finish those works so theymos was looking for another solution to reduce mod's works. Merit is that solution and it's still on experiment.

I think the merit system is here to address the issues of shit posting. Although it won't stop it but at least people will try and work on the quality of their posts. Although it doesn't stop shit posting but at least no new rank will be attained if one doesn't work for it.

I don't think this system is fair, since you get banned without evene knowing what you've done. You can't just pretend that all new user that are not shitposter know all the rules before a month on the forum, without any advice.

Certainly we have different opinions about the shit posting but I think what you have suggested is a bit too harsh.
I do agree that we have shit posted too before and that would be unfair for the noobs today. We ranked up because of some trash posts and that's a mere fact.
Noobs are struggling and maybe the merit system is more than enough resolution for the problem stated.
Noobs are trying to be constructive and that is good.

Although i'm not opposing to Op's idea, but IMO newbies should be excluded in it.Why not give them time since they are new to this community and still noobs(like what you once before).Besides,the system is still new and we can't expect it to solve everything in a blink of an eye.(e.g taking a medicine that won't affect easily).Theymos already made a move about the problem and lets just wait for it to sink in.Why not focus on other higher rank than newbies that's been here for long and yet they are still spreading shits to the forum.

I spent my newbie days on our local boards for some advice and guidance from higher ranks and also exploring every rules. How come a forum member rank up to legendary without knowing rules and regulations? If ever I got shitposts on my local board it does not make the community looks like something messy because it will be easily detected and deleted by mods. I am referring to newbies or anyone that shitposts to stick within their local boards and try some improvements there rather than spreading shits on international or english boards.

The system is actually fair due to ten shitpost warnings made in those english boards but just like as I said above we have to wait for the effect of the newly implemented merit system. I also stated on post #4 that I posted this idea for me not to forget it in case. This idea may not harm anyone or an intention to attack noobs because they are one of us and I am one of them before. "Ignorance of the law excuses no one." it can also be applied here in this forum since we have eyes to read the rules and ears to hear advices and guidance.
