I sent BTC from MT Gox yesterday to my receiving address, and still haven't gotten them. What am I doing wrong? How long does it normally take?

It normally takes a few minutes. I have never had a transaction take a full day. It's either worked or failed by then.

There is a small chance your transaction doesn't get picked up by the network. If it's been a day and it's still unconfirmed, that's probably what happened. Usually it only happens on transactions that seem spammy, like where the amount of bitcoins sent is very small or the coins are very new, but it can happen to any transaction if you don't pay a transaction fee.

Contact mt.gox and tell them your withdrawal didn't go through and the coins are in limbo, see if they can reset the transaction and resend your coins for you.

Check with blockexplorer to see if the coins were actually sent. If so, you've gotten them, regardless of what your client says. The number one reason your client might not show coins that you've gotten is that it doesn't have the complete block chain yet.

I checked block explorer, and the transaction did go through. I sent three separate transactions, one for 4btc, one for around .2, and one for around .005. My client is displaying the correct block chain count, around 136450 right now.

But your client is not showing the correct balance? Double-check that you are running with the wallet file that contains that receiving address. If all else fails, stop the client and restart it with a '-rescan' option.

Wait. Smiley

(This assumes your block counter is gradually increasing.)
