so looking at bitcoinity, it says 32k coins have been traded in the last 24 hours in total.

That's over 1% of the whole currency. And it was a quiet day. This seems to me to be a healthy sign!

Society doesn't scale.

There are 11.72 million Bitcoins. 1% would equal over 117k.
