You an only claim a single episode at a time Kieran.  In no way did you ever clearly claim episode 10.  I'm already 22 minutes in.

I said my preferences for claiming were episode 10, THEN (i.e. if that isn't available) episode 57, THEN (i.e. if that isn't available) episode 04. Expressing things in order of preference is perfectly clear - I learnt to do it in French at school when I was 11 years old, lol! I didn't at any point ask to reserve more than one at the same time.

Also, I was 30 minutes into transcribing episode 9 when I discovered the other guy had reserved it, but when that happened I graciously said "OK" and started writing another one. I know how frustrated you are - I had to take a walk around the house to cool off, because I'd wasted hours - but I honestly don't think it's fair for you to take this one.

 

Alternatively, if either of these are available (it's been more than two weeks), my preference would be E10, E57, then 04.

Yes, that would have been more clear, but even if I was unclear or over-complex about it, that doesn't negate the fact that I did claim it first. The sentence makes logical sense and it's not fair to say that someone else's lack of comprehension means they should get to claim what's mine.

I know this makes me sound like a huge dick, but I think I should get to finish this one since it was claimed by tennis after I'd already expressed an interest.

Also, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is my favourite book, so I feel like this episode and I were destined to be together

We'll let OP decide but you post doesn't really say you want to reserve it.

What's funny about what he posted.  with the three reservations which I initially disregarded due to not following 1 reservation rule... is that he just switched the order around.  When I initially checked the post it read 57, 10, 04.  And to try and argue his case here he tampered the evidence.  Please rule in my favor. 

I will begin EPISODE 57 until I hear word that I do indeed have rights to finish episode 10 which I am close to halfway done on.

Once again, it's not a post with "three reservations" and nor does it break the "one reservation rule"... I was expressing a list in order of preference. It isn't my fault that you didn't understand that.

You also have to remember that it would be unfair, from my perspective, if you got to do E10 because you didn't realise someone else was doing it, while I had to give up on E09 halfway through because I didn't realise someone else was doing it.

I think you might have misread - E10 was always my first preference because of the Huxley connection, lol.

Because, from my perspective, this isn't the same thing as what happened yesterday, so I haven't made the same mistake twice in a row; I made a mistake, and then you made a mistake afterwards. It happens.

In yesterday's situation, I made a post reserving an episode AFTER somebody else had already reserved it - i.e., I was in your position, tennis.

Today's situation has nothing to do with that - I made a post and started transcribing an episode, then somebody (you) came along and asked to reserve the same episode. In other words, today I'm in the position that my "opponent" (the guy who actually reserved it first) was in yesterday.

So yesterday's problem wasn't to do with how clear I was in phrasing my reservation, and even if today's is, as long as my sentence was logically valid and thus understandable to readers (which it was), the burden shouldn't be on me to resolve the situation. In my honest opinion, you screwed up on this one. I'm sorry.

Anyway, I figure it's probably best just to wait for OP to come and resolve this rather than bickering all day. Trust me, I'm just as annoyed that this happened as you are.

The reason I'm making a big deal about it is that I'm currently at 41:49 in the podcast, 8275 words (I've been doing solid work since we had our argument, because I didn't want to delay the episode). I expect to have it posted here within the hour. You can carry on with it if you really want, but I think this thread shows that I reserved it first, and at this point it would be a race between us to see who can waste more of the other's time.

Once again, I really do sympathise with you, I know how much it sucks to have spent time on a transcript you can't get BTC for.

This is absolutely correct!!  Thank you anon...  whatever you're doing right now Kieran is extremely shady. Why have you continued working on this episode?  You have never claimed this episode!!  I have first in the thread.

Why would this guy continue writing after our argument?  He is trying to power me out of this and I could have it done by the end of the day... I could have had it done as well but did the responsible thing and... just Kieran stop.

The one reservation per person rule was added after the fact, which is why some people were able to reserve multiple episodes.

There may or may not be expiring reservations, where there has been two weeks time passed without the reservee requesting extension.
