For bitcoin it seems to be hard to predict the prices because things are getting manipulated in many ways now. There was time when we could easily say that bitcoin will be equal to XYZ prices within these months and that months.
Now is the time we are facing many development issues such as scale up of the blockchain which can help the way we transact. These things really matter because this defines ultimate inflow of the investment or investors. The more quality services you get the more people attract here. Currently the scenario seems to be draining the bitcoin market cap. Prices might not be easy to predict for bitcoin now.

For trading Altcoins I use RSI or Relative Strength Index, it tells you if the Altcoin or Token is Oversold or Overbought. You can read all about it
here but if the price breaks the oversold line or overbought line it doesn't mean that's a signal to Buy or Sell, it just tells you that its more likely that there will be a reversal of the trend.
However I have not checked the sources, but he seems to be reasonable.
