Do our own research about ICO. Reading the ICO's whitepaper is a must. Also keep in touch with ICO's website and their social media pages like facebook, twitter, medium. Also getting ideas and opinions from crypto experts will also help in great amount.

First, I'm looking for Token distribution ""When and How"
Greed can be defined by a high token distribution to the team members, let’s say, more than 50% of the tokens is suspicious. A good project will link its token distribution to the roadmap. Because each phase or milestone of the project requires a certain amount of funding.

Watch for the token distribution stage. Some projects just release their tokens hours after the ICO has ended. Some projects need to develop a beta version before sending out the tokens. If you look at the percentage gain of Etherium (one year between ICO and token distribution, around 500% gain), Augur (1+ years, 1500%) and Decent (8 month, 350%), sometimes this break creates a very positive hype around the project.

Good advice and i may add also to read some ico review sites. I am also using cointelegraph, newsbtc, ico rating, icobench and so forth. More sources means narrowing your choices and filtering only good ICO's or lowering your chances to be scam. Always do your own research and always guard your investment from scams.

If you're trying to look for ICO here in the forum, you can try to look in the ANN Thread of the forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0
Almost all active ICO nowadays is posted there, but of course, you need to open each thread to know if they are still active or already finish.
You can also try looking at this sites

There are lots of websites that lists upcoming and active ICOs like coinschedule. All you have to do then is search for the ICO name here and then know first the team behind of all these. Team is very crucial to ICO's sucess. After that, you can go and read their whitepaper and roadmap.

Read six question to ask from this article https://cointelegraph.com/news/dont-believe-the-hype-the-five-largest-ico-exit-scams-expert-take
That article is so good caused by that gives a lot of explanation to avoid the scam project. It may become a very hekpful article for you to determine which next best ico.
The community should become the best measure to determine of ico.
You can try to use recommended ico rate site just like icodrop

In general, I will study this ICO project myself. One of the key factors of my investment in ICO project is whether the project is open source. Therefore, I will often use gtihub to search whether this ICO project is open source, and an open source ICO project will generally have a good return.

I go on several sites that forecast the beginings of an ICO. Most of the time now I choose ICOs that have a presale because there is more profit to be made (not necessarily). After that I look up what the ICO ia all about. If I find an ICO interesting, I read their whitepaper, dovumentnts etc. Important ofc is to look up the people that are behind the ICO. You would also want to go through their social media accounts to see how much the are in contact with their inveators because this is a must to keep people away from dumping and letting the product grow.
P.S. stay away from ICOs with +30k followers on telegram... in my experience they always end badly

Usually i found the ICOs on bitcointalk on announcement section then i visit the link of the ICOs and start learning about the whitepaper of ICOs, do research about the developer of team, the community, the company behind the ICOs, i read all of them carefully and join in their official social media like telegram, Twitter and other. I will do research of the ICOs and if there are something don't understand, i will make the question on their community.

There are sites that list the ongoing, upcoming, and top performing icos, you can easily access these sites by searching them on google or whatever search engine you use. After looking for some, you can research about the coin or just read or study their whitepaper and stuff that gives information about the campaign, team, and the company itself.

i always use my brain when looking  at ico's

there is always a few things that look like it is too good to be true. but when they start promising payouts or increases or plain out lie about some things that is when i know something is bad.

i also use Reddit as my main source of information. if you search you will more then likely find somebody else with an opinion.

Man some good advice in this thread. There are so many unrealistic projects out there that look really flashy and cool. I've found that I have to really look at the project not from a "Wow this looks cool" perspective but "is this even possible right now". For example, there are these great "green" projects that plan to bring renewable energy to the blockchain but in some countries it takes forever to get a license to even distribute energy, the cost of wind turbines is extremely expensive and the fact that they took on a worldwide initiative was too ambitious. Since then I've tried to pick more realistic projects even though they aren't as flashy.
