So I participated in a groupbuy some years back, it turns out that the groupbuy was cancelled and all most original participants were refunded. I did not receive a refund. I lost my account information and just recently found my information. The groupbuy seems to by all accounts to be an upstanding member of the forum, but has not posted in a few weeks. Do I have any recourse in getting my refund? My transaction ID and wallet ID are all on the groupbuy page. I would appreciate any suggestion or help in this matter. Thank you

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Are you able to sign the wallet address listed in the group buy list? Even though you no longer have access to your old account, this would serve as adequate proof of identity to me. Assuming the buy manager is as responsible as you say they seem, they should still be holding your funds.

Yes, I still have access to the wallet, so I just need the funds refunded to the original wallet address I made the payment from. But I need some help tracking down the GB manager. Like I said, this person has not been active in a few weeks. Any ideas/suggestions for getting a hold of this person?

Are they a well established member on the forums? I'd wager if they've done a significant number of groupbuys or other deals on here, there is someone who might have some more contact info for them. What member are we talking about?

The groupbuy was started as Charles999, and he had account problems and his account was subsequently changed to Charles99
both accounts has had activity as recently as Jan 18th and 20th this year

Probably just need to wait until Charles99/Charles999 come online and respond to your message that you sent. Unless, someone knows the user personally there's nothing else you can do other than wait.

I wish you the best of luck in getting your refund. If the user refunded others that were involved then I can't see a reason why they wouldn't be willing to refund you now. Unless, it was a large amount and they have already moved the coins on.

I'd be happy to send him a PM on your behalf if you'd like. I suggest you only send the signed message to him though, as anyone else who has access to it could in theory claim your shares. I assume he only has access to the charles99 account, since the other one hasn't posted since 2013. 2 weeks of inactivity doesn't mean he won't be logging in again, I'd just be patient if I was you.

He's got trust on his account so that means that he is most likely going to be a lot more dependable than just a random guy on the forum.

Still though, your refund will depend on him. First you need to verify that you indeed participated in the groupbuy, of course you've got the signed message so as long as that checks out, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

There is obviously a problem with him not being online. Just bump your post on his thread often and hope that he sees it eventually and come online.

He may argue that price of BTC has gone down drastically, so your refund may be discounted though. Try to negotiate with him in that case, hopefully it doesn't happen, though.

Would somebody be so kind as to send a PM to charles99 and charles999 and make him aware of this thread. It looks like the user was online as recently as today. And then please post here so he doesn't receive multiple duplicate messages.
Also, would it be out of line to offer a bounty of a percentage of my refund if I am able to recover my refund at all? Thanks so much!

Sorry I almost forgot about this thread. Just letting you know I've sent Charles99 a PM, will update you if I get a response.
