Hi Guys,

I'm in Ireland and looking for an adapter to convert (x1, x4 or x8) to x16. I just can't seem to find them anywhere.

Does anybody know where I can find on Europe, UK or even US.

Anybody willing to buy on here would be great too.

Thanks Smiley

Hello Makko,

http://cablesaurus.com/ they have all the extenders you need though I don't know if they ship internationally but it doesn't hurt to ask  Grin

I'm not positive, but I don't think that's possible.  A x16 slot has more bandwidth than the x8, x4, or x1.  For mining, it really doesn't matter that much.  I have three 9800 cards, two in PCI-e x16 slots and one in x4 PCI-e slot and they all have the same hash rate.

Correct for gaming its definitely not advisable to run a x16 on a x4 or x1 slot but for mining it makes no difference I run several of my rigs on x1 PCI-E slots with the extenders right now and they are getting the same Mhashs as my x16 PCI-E

www.9mart.com has some stuff too, I think they ship from Hong Kong and they do ship to USA, so maybe they'll send internationally over to Ireland also.. take a look!

If you feel generous, please donate =)

+1 for cablesaurus, bought a few cables there with bitcoin. I do regret going with the free shipping option though, took a couple of weeks for them to get here.

How much does it affect performance to put a medium to high end card into a 1x slot?  Is it just like 2% cuz of the data volume or 50% cuz it's a total disaster?

1x is PLENTY fast 'nuff for mining, heck you'd probably be fine with PCI.

just search on ebay "pci-e 1x". they're like $4 shipped. seller doesn't really matter, it's pretty much all the same and they'll come through with the shipping. here you go:

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=pci-e+1x&_sacat=0&_sop=15&_odkw=pci-e+x1&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

I second this recommendation. 2 cables for USD 9 and free shipping. Can't be beat. All cables working so far. PM me for a contact I know there who'll treat you right.

Disclaimer: I have no interest in 9mart. Bought from them only once and they really helped me out with an urgent delivery.

You can go with a clean solution like: http://cgi.ebay.com/PCI-E-Extension-Cable-1X-16X-Riser-Extender-Card-/160616073698?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256576c9e2#ht_3749wt_1163
Or you can go with a cheap one: http://cgi.ebay.com/PCI-E-1X-Slot-Riser-Card-Extension-Flex-Relocate-Cable-/160616078911?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256576de3f
