Yesterday I posted some responses to the topics but today I found that number of posts I did yesterday were reduced. It looks like some of the posts were deleted. How can I know which of my posts got deleted and why?

I'm pretty sure that when a moderator deletes your message you will receive a Private Message here on the forum explaining who deleted it, why and which post it was. Not sure if this is the case every-time, but I've seen that exact message for people before.

I believe if you are posting in a self-moderated thread and your post is deleted by OP/self-moderator then you will not be notified and your post will disappear in the wind. Sometimes there is no reason, other than the OP not liking what you have to say.

You only have a couple posts, it would not seem to be very difficult for you to keep track of which posts were deleted and then attempt to deduce why that may be the case from there. Simply start keeping a record of your posts, and then you can easily see which of them is missing.

It is also possible that the entire thread has been deleted by a moderator and if this is the case you will also not be informed about it. This normally means the thread didn't abide by the rules or guidelines.

So, it is not always possible to know why, but you can do your part and at least figure out which (maybe even when).

Allow me to clarify. Your posts are deleted by either staff or the OP of a thread. If they are deleted, you are notified.

However, do you know what your posts are contained inside of? That's right: a thread. If the thread is trashed then you will not receive a notification. This is usually because you post in a spam megathread that is worthless. So what's the solution? Just don't post in shitty threads.

did this change at some point? i've had posts deleted in self-moderated threads and received this PM afterwards:
Quote
A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by the starter of a self-moderated topic. There are no rules of self-moderation, so this deletion cannot be appealed. Do not continue posting in this topic if the topic-starter has requested that you leave.

You can create a new topic if you are unsatisfied with this one. If the topic-starter is scamming, post about it in Scam Accusations.

Yesterday I posted some responses to the topics but today I found that number of posts I did yesterday were reduced. It looks like some of the posts were deleted. How can I know which of my posts got deleted and why?

a few months back, moderators were deleting lots of threads. that seems to have calmed down recently, but when that happens, the threads just disappear and so do all of your posts. you won't receive a PM like above.

Thanks for the detailed information Bill! This is really helpful and it looks like the whole threads were deleted as I didn't get any PM notifying deletion of my post.

And yes, if needed, I will start keeping track of the posts I am making so that I can know in future which post got deleted and deduce the reason for it.

Thanks again.

Yes, it looks like the whole threads were deleted and that's why I didn't receive any notification in my PM. Need to be more careful before posting to avoid shitty threads  Grin Grin

Thanks mate.

You will received private message stating which of your post was deleted, it's either your post is not connected to the topic, or their are unnecessary line included with your answer, or the answer is not worth reading (as per the moderator's taste), or simple he just don't like your answer (maybe my answer will be deleted also).

Thanks bro. I have checked Messages but haven't received any PM notifying deletion. So as other members suggested, it is highly likely that the entire threads on which I replied were deleted.
And I don't find any reason why your helpful answer will be deleted  Grin
