Then, high transaction costs in operations with digital gold led to a crisis in the network. Many companies refused to accept cryptocurrency such as game service Steam and the payment provider Stripe.
Nope. The services having stopped accepting Bitcoin are nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites. They blame all types of external reasons (fees, volatility, etc) for no longer accepting Bitcoin as payment option, while they don't dare to admit that they are disappointed in the fact that not many people are actually using their coins to purchase from them. It has been like that far before the fees were even a question, where on top of that, the market has always been volatile. We'll see whether or not they will bring back Bitcoin's payment option when lightning network is being deployed globally, and thus fees can't be used as an excuse anymore.... If you accept Bitcoin as payment option thinking that your sales will boom, then prepare for a big disappointment. People, regardless of the fees, will NOT let go of their coins.
