This guy is the CEO of Bitcoin...  (I am not making this up)
LinkedIn
twitter

He just got nailed by USA cops!!
Money Laundering
Interview on the arrest...
Interview (Tone Vays is such a wanker.  What is with the stupid heavy forward comb-over?  Hilarious!)

The price is going to tank bigly when this gets out.  The US is arresting EVERYBODY!!!!

I am pretty sure this is the real end of Bitcoin.  You can't have your CEO in jail and expect things to get done.

This thread worries me but I'm not entirely sure why, it's one of the following:

- OP is a troll but others won't realise this because they're completely stupid and will think this is 'real' and that Bitcoin the cryptocurrency has a CEO
-OP is also completely stupid

I'm leaning towards the first one.

The guy is arrested, that's bad and true. He probably has some respect in the community as well as quite some coins. Firstly, I believe the court has not decided what will be done about it yet. Maybe they'll release him and this precedent will make bitcoins legal.
Another thing I want to point out is this: who is this guy? Why are you saying he's the CEO of bitcoin? He's not in bitcoin dev team, but is instead a CEO of the company called Bitcoin inc. Moreover, this guy was arrested before for transactions. Here's some information which may clarify the situation: "There is a lot of interesting information to be found in this particular story. It all began when the CEO of Bitcoin Inc – not to be confused with the CEO of Bitcoin the currency, as such a position doesn’t exist – got arrested over a Bitcoin transaction dating back to November 2016" [article: https://themerkle.com/homeland-security-arrests-bitcoin-company-ceo-for-alleged-money-laundering/].
I'm afraid the op and you guys just overreacted on the situation, everything is not so bad and btc's CEO doesn't even exist!
P.S. Sorry if it was trolling and I didn't get it.

I'm confused to that Bitcoin have CEO? or this is an another platform with the same name? If this is true, let's just wait for the court ruling like what the accused have said on the twitter and find out if he really did a bad move.

Is it fake or pre fabricated, it is hard to know what is real or not these days. In the early days of Bitcoin there were no laws at all, only now we are being regulated. This is really good for all and makes for safe transactions.

How is this not entrapment? "The action of tricking someone into committing a crime in order to secure their prosecution."  Huh

Hi,

Sorry to say so but... I guess that man was not working on his own, anyway. You can't build something that big and remain alone. So I'm not saying this is a good news but I wouldn' say that this is the end either.

Let's wait and see. Wink

Well, we are not in that position to discuss things if it was made for real or not, so if the Op is clearly saying that it is for real then he should provide evidence about it so that we also know the real status about it.

Many people will really say that the founder and CEO of bitcoin really scammed us but  for us he did a great job.

Or... you are completely stupid.  What don't you get?  Are you saying this guy is not the CEO of Bitcoin?  Because if that is your assertion, you are dead wrong.  He is.  That is a fact.

maybe OP is wrong about CEO Status?
Not wrong.  This guy is the CEO of Bitcoin.  It is in the public register.  It is a clear fact.  This isn't open for a debate or negotiation.  Just go to the Secretary of State in Nevada website and look for yourself.

Oh this guy, I saw an interview the other day with Tone Vays on his channel. It's interesting, check it out here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu7nl_-vBns

There are many things that don't add up, on both the guy's side and the government's side, namely, why does he claim that he can't go and get his bitcoins to pay a lawyer? I mean it may be true that he just can't, im not going to judge him on that, but some claim he is just trying to get a lawyer for free.

But now on the actual government paperwork, there are many things that sound dodgy like "at a time unknown" or "elsewhere" (read the pdf)

Honestly, this is why im too paranoid to sell bitcoin at all. Who knows if the exchange isn't a scam, and if you go OTC, who knows if you are selling into a government trap/scam.

Damn Raw Dog, you trolling hard bruh. Anyways, I don't see this as that bad news that it would cause the current dip as somebody else said. How would this cause the dip? The transaction was done in 2016 lol.

The guy himself said on Twitter that he was arrested in a sting operation after trying to sell someone Bitcoin through Localbitcoins web site.

As for being the "CEO of Bitcoin"?  Lol, sure. Batman is my uncle.

It is funny that you guys believe that this news will affect Bitcoin price to go down. First of all the word "Bitcoin CEO" doesn't even exist because no company owns Bitcoin. The man that OP referring is Morgan Rockwell, it is true that he is a CEO of a company named Bitcoin Inc but not the cryptocurrency Bitcoin itself. So what would be the effect this to Bitcoin price if he gets arrested because of money laundering? probably nothing. Anyway this case is still under investigation so it is still not clear if what would be the charges that they will file to him.

This looks like a sting operation for selling hash oil and most likely he was secretly selling something else. Without proof they just got him for money laundering rather than hard to find drugs

I'm not a Bitcoin expert but as far as I know they  aren't any chief executive officers

maybe OP is wrong about CEO Status?
or maybe the OP is joking... man if you opened the Twitter or LinkedIn link: this guy claims to be the CEO of Bitcoin Inc. I am not sure if such a company even exists, but if it does, he may well be the CEO, anyway the whole OP is just a joke on that.

How can people even take it seriously and enter such a discussion?

He just got nailed by USA cops!!
Money Laundering
Interview on the arrest...
Interview (Tone Vays is such a wanker.  What is with the stupid heavy forward comb-over?  Hilarious!)

The price is going to tank bigly when this gets out.  The US is arresting EVERYBODY!!!!

I am pretty sure this is the real end of Bitcoin.  You can't have your CEO in jail and expect things to get done.

Actually when i heard the news im shock, that the CEO of bitcoin is being arrested but when,i read the full story this man is an impostor ,and claiming that he is the chef executive of bitcoin but the real thruth he is fake and only using the name of bitcoin in a shame, while on the other hand when i search those link in the youtube that in the statement given,of using the money laundering of bitcoin why those person claiming that he is the CEO is accusing of selling illegal drugs instead of money laundering, so therefore i thinks this news is hoax and no relevant.

I don't think so that Bitcoin has a CEO now so that is why i'm thinking if this event is just a drama and this guy is an actor. Another form of FUD i guess except if someone tell me that this guy is Mr.Satoshi Nakamoto then maybe i will 100% to believe this crazy news but still true or not the future of Bitcoin will now depend upon the people who owns Bitcoin in which the true CEO of Bitcoin.

For each person there are different concepts of earning on the Internet, for example, I think that the investment is a fairly profitable income at home.

I am not sure if i will panic or not but this news is something to have our eyes on. This is not good for the bitcoin community, especially now that biycoin is starting to rise again. I just really not sure if this is going to affect bitcoin really big, because bitcoin have its own body that can continue independently. Only if all the people holding bitcoin sells this is the real problem. This will be the start of the fall of bitcoin. Just like to other business or company, if someone just kicked out it can be replaced with the other more deserving person.

I am pretty sure this is the real end of Bitcoin.  You can't have your CEO in jail and expect things to get done.

Mr. Morgan Rockwell was the CEO of bitcoin academy. It's just another business built around the crypto curreny. He was also a president of Defend BTC which is a company that provides legal services to the crypto businesses. I see no direct relation of him with the bitcoin here. He was just another person with a crypto related business. I don't see any impact of this news in the bitcoin market.

US is playing double standard game and majority of the crypto users are aware of it. Also bitcoin doesn't depends on a single person. So I am pretty sure that this is NOT the real end of bitcoin. It can't be!

How can you guys believe such nonsense? As far as I know, I don’t think the true creator of bitcoin and the blockchain technology is really known.
Many people have claimed to be but it is hard to know who is telling the truth.  However on the topic of money laundering, this is one of the key reason why some governments do not like cryptocurrencies, it allows for an easy way to transfer money without detection from governments.

Man, read through a whole thread. This is just a company name (you could theoretically establish a company and name it - say - Ethereum too, which would make you CEO of Ethereum) and the whole thread was created to have a laugh at that coincidence of names.
