Hi creative designers,

I am organizing a Logo Contest for my website "Shorting Bitcoins" offering a whopping 2 Bitcoin in prizes.
The site is fresh and I already have my bitcoins working for me by hiring 3 article writers. They will deliver their articles next week so keep an eye on it.

Requirements
- Must contain text: Shorting Bitcoins
- Must contain shape: Bitcoin
- Must be in Vector
- Must be in .ai format
- Must fit canvas dimension of 600x450 on delivery, you can show a smaller size which fits on the website.

Prizes
- 1 BTC for the winner determined by BitcoinTalk members voting
- 1 BTC for the winner chosen by me

Bonus
- Any submission with at least 10 votes gains an unbelievable 0.02 Bitcoin for free
- Anyone who blogs about his participation will get a free link on my website. A reciprocal link is not needed, but always appreciated Smiley

It is possible that that both prizes go to the same person in case I choose the same winner as the community voted for.
This will make the competition fair and collusion will be impossible.

Note: I will escrow the prize of 2 BTC to a reputable BitcoinTalk member who will be disclosed until further notice.

Start date
23rd september 2013

Closing date of submission
30 september 2013

Voting start date
1st October 2013

Voting end date
8th October 2013

Rules
- You can submit multiple entries.
- You must pass all requirements to be eligible for winning
- You must announce your participation in a reply before you submit your entry

Voting
- When voting starts at 1st October 2013 I will update this post with the submitted entries by usernames
- Every BT member with at least 25 posts  and member for at least 7 days may cast 1 vote on the best Logo design
- The Logo with the most unique votes on 8th september 2013 23:59 GMT+1 is the winner of 1 BTC
- The Logo I like the most will be made public on 9th October 2013 and the designer will be the winner of 1 BTC

Submitting
- You may submit as many times as you like. I will do my best to give constructive feedback on every submission so you can apply modifications if needed

If you have any further questions feel free to ask them. If not I will wish you good luck and..

Update
I have created a mockup of how I envision the logo:

Something like this but more professionally slicker:

It depicts a "Shorting" opportunity, the "Head and Shoulder" pattern in a round canvas.

With a border and a maybe with a BTC sign, try with and without.

Download PSD file here
You can use the PSD as a base and recreate it in vector. If anyone can do this and make it even smoother it will surely be my winner.

Make sure the logo is clear and not blurry when you resize it to small image like this:

I want a canvas of 600x450 so I can use it for business cards but you need to check if it looks good when you resize it to small.

May the best designer win!

Question was really about position of logo on your website. I asume it should go where "Shorting Bitcoins" text is located now. If so than logo
posted bellow would look like https://i.imgur.com/2QSns96.jpg

and one posted bellow would look like https://i.imgur.com/yvdPN9m.jpg

Graphic represents BTC dropping in value and thus becoming visualy smaller.

Thank you for submission, you are the first.
You are lucky if there are no more submission, that would be an easy 2 Bitcoin for you.

The contest ends in 3 days so if you want to participate and have a great chance of winning, join the contest!

Ehhh, in general I am a lucky person but I'm not lucky that much!

Bellow is a rework of logo. Having both "coin becoming smaller" effect and "coin dropping" effect just does not look right the next morning
so I aligned coin bottom edges, removing the later effect. Graphic height thus decreased so I was able to increase overall size of it without
increasing logo height. Brightness of the big and medium coins were increased in order to make small coin stand out more (better contrast).

Not sure yet about what part(s) of logo should have shadow, any preference?

Text on above logo is horizontaly centered in regard to small coin, on logo bellow it is centered in regard to big coin. Later logo implies BTC
price drop better but I'm not sure you would love "unconventional" positioning of logo elements.

This one is much better than the first one, just like you said the bottom edges are better this way. I like how you revision your submissions.
Your logo looks better when you put text like this:
[   ]Shorting
[   ]Bitcoins

Hi,

Ok, can I have a go too? I like to do something different. You're probably won't find it suitable for your application but I like to stir things up every now and then.  Grin

Ok. My BTC50cts. I decided a more playful route. A bit like what Google did: depart from the nerdy search engines and come up with something people can relate to. Who thinks of the googolplex when seeing the name Google?

I wanted to emphasize on the ups and downs of a currency's value by displaying the five bitcoin logo's at different elevations and emphasize this even more by the 'outlines of coins' going through the words Shorting and Bitcoins. These outlines also help in establishing the playfulness.

Also you'll notice the lower coins are drawn in a cartoonist style while the top one is the official logo in the website's base color. This is done to create a bridge between the people who are into bitcoin from a hobby perspective and those who are in it professionally. The bridge between playfulness and business.

Not a serious entry:

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.
