ETH and XMR. ETH is the epitome of blockchain tech and if you look beyond the moons and lambos, it is that tech that will prevail in long term and revolutionise the world, so I can't see ETH going anywhere. XMR on the other hand is what BTC started out as and is the only crypto that is truly a privacy coin. Frankly I can see both of these doing at least 5 x next year.
If you want something a little riskier then honourable mentions to NEO (will be a big year with a number of ICOs on the horizon, and could be humongous if China comes back to the table), REQ (touted as the next PayPal, test product looks great, ahead of roadmap and big updates coming in 2018), LINK (connecting Blockchain to the commercial world, with the potential for some huge partnerships to be announced in 2018 e.g. SWIFT), OMG (IMO one of the cryptos with the biggest potential, but progress has been slow, although they have announced details of staking for Q1 of next year), and finally QSP (it isn't sexy but they're aiming to be the smart contract auditor of choice, and I have no doubt from what I've seen since the ICO a couple of months ago that they can do that in the next few years).

Define "best" It's definitely the safest investment, but there are currencies which will give you a better ROI. Either way, your portfolio should have at least 50% btc in it. Also, try to reduce btc exposure during alt seasons and increase it during btc bull run.

Bitcoin has a better future compare to other cryptocurrency in the market. So we could have a good time on having a holding with bitcoin prior to those alternative coin out there in the market. This is the best option for us to earn, support and be a part of the community who are willing to used bitcoin for it to develop its system and price on the market. But we should also think about how we would deal with transaction apart of our trading.

I agree with you . Bitcoin prices are in the uptrend stage and there will soon be many big events related to Cryptocurreny and we will see a dramatic increase in Bitcoin this year. From Sears, Kmart, Nokia, Motorola, Yahoo, MySpace, etc. Although Bitcoin is the current crypto reserve currency, I think that its dominance is threatened by ALT coins with faster, cheaper transactions and greater scalability. What do you think? Is it smart to hold Bitcoin as a long-term investment, or are there better choices among the ALT coins like Ethereum or Litecoin?
Bitcoin is best for long term investment because Btc is less risky then other altcoins and the prices of Btc are also high, "Invest more earn more". Bitcoin is the best long term holds if the people hold it for long time and it is not a long term if people do not hold for long time and hold the coin for a little time. The short term will give you less profit while the long term will give you huge profit. If Bitcoin used as a long term then the future profit will be huge and investor will get huge returns of his investment. So it is better to hold Bitcoin than the other cryptocurrencies for investments. |

Yes it is. Bitcoin is the best investment if hold for long term because the worth of your portfolio will not remain the same but will tend to rise or fall at times.
