I've come across a guy called "nullius" with a shit tonne of merits more than anyone excluding theymos. Then I started digging because I'm good at it and I finally got to the level where I found "nullius" is something else, something that we don't see around here so easily because it appears he has a strong cryptographic background... So, who the hell is this guy? Is he the founder or what? LOL Smiley

If you compare what words he uses to other users around here to the words that are used by other members around here, and on reddit on r/bitcoin you will eventually figure out who he is. (note: you will have to analyze more than just vocabulary, but also words used before and after words, and analyze this on a large scale).

I used to think he was an alt account for someone well known here, but now I'm not so sure. There used to be some patterns in merits sent and received and threads he would frequent, but that correlation has faded in recent days.

Anyway, this thread gave me a great idea --- we should spend more time celebrating and praising the knowledgeable members among us!

There's a lot of "shit talking" and not enough "rose talking". Let's all try to acknowledge the best among us (and merit isn't enough). Can we do that? Will you join me?

Whoever this guy is, one thing I assume, he was born to be the first "living legend" in this forum. Nulluis means "own by nobody" this is the true meaning of legend, control by nobody.

I guess there is no real newbie can write such high qualitied, constructive posts like nullius. Especially, high-qualitied posts in-a-row like this guy. Newbie can sometimes write such a good post, not always.

Furthermore, nullius seems to focus on technical issues, which extremely difficult with newcomers in crypto-world.
I don't care about the fact that this account is alt of someone, this account simply strongly demonstrate the fact that new account can get dozens of merits when can contribute to the forum and community with innovative, helpful threads.
Congratulations, nullius.

Yes, I remember I put his profile on my bookmarks because back in December he was a newbie and was writing very long posts on technical issues. I thought maybe he was someone who knew a lot and hadn't joined the forum yet or maybe someone who was here at the beginning, stayed away for a while, and opened a new account to come back.

A friend of a friend reliable unidentified source told me that he was Lauda. In preponderance of evidence, and nulliuses non existing denial of this, I can only conclude that he is Lauda.

I have said good things about nullius in the past when I was surprised by him..
He is obviously smart and merit worthy but this nullius fanboyism is getting cringy awkward..

Edit: insert example..
Happy to bow down to greatness

That is cringy AF..
/edit

I myself like to be modest, I can't stand people praising me and couldn't imagine being him right now..
But maybe he is not like me and it doesn't bother him..

As far as him being an alt, if he hasn't explicitly denied it then I would say that's the logical assumption..
If not, knowing so much about crypto, why has he never posted on bitcointalk before? Doesn't make sense..

But even if he is an alt, from his posts I can see that he is a privacy buff, I see absolutely nothing wrong with him being an alt for those purposes..

I don't have a problem with you nullius, but you being so smart you should understand suspicion..
We have some of the best con artists on the internet in this forum that have pulled massive long cons.. Time after time..

One thing concerning about nullius is that he seems to have settled in with a particular political party around here rather quickly..

It makes for quite an interesting drama to follow lately..

I hope nullius sticks around, is a good member of the community, and gets along with me and everyone else swimmingly..

Not saying this is him, but a similar situation reminds me of https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=704654
I hope nullius turns out a lot better..

I mean.. What if amaclin brushed up his English real good and started an account like nullius..
He would have scammed the pants off of half of you in no time..
Be ever vigilant..

Make a lot of quality posts and you'll get a representative amount of merit. Not exactly rocket science. As for him being an alt account. Maybe. Or maybe he's just a great poster.

If you compare what words he uses to other users around here to the words that are used by other members around here, and on reddit on r/bitcoin you will eventually figure out who he is. (note: you will have to analyze more than just vocabulary, but also words used before and after words, and analyze this on a large scale).

QS always implies that he knows more than he's posting, but never quite gets around to filling in the blanks that he draws all of our attention to.

My attention span is severely impaired, and I will confess that I've mainly skimmed Nullius's posts, but from what I've read I have to say the dude knows how to write.  He certainly deserves the merits he's earned

Exactly, though the amount of research that QS is claiming he has done on him likely in the hopes he can somehow make a connection to someone he doesn't like shows you how insane he is.

I guess there is no real newbie can write such high qualitied, constructive posts like nullius. Especially, high-qualitied posts in-a-row like this guy. Newbie can sometimes write such a good post, not always.

His account is hardly new. He registered in March 2017, though I guess he only started being active fairly recently.

Oh dear! I must be posting too much to get such a mention.
I can confirm that he has greater technical knowledge than me, I'm more interested in Bitcoin's place in the new emerging world economy, and it's potential as a source of wealth.

maybe he is alt of  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=96014

If you read the post of both, you will find of lot of difference.
Nullius started posting on December when he joined the forum on March.
In his  first post , he is pointing to the bug he filed on November.

https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/24351

He has his own github repository:
https://github.com/nym-zone?tab=repositories

I will say ,it is  account of a passionate guy. (Personally I do not think it is an alt account but it does not matter also.)

I've come across a guy called "nullius" with a shit tonne of merits more than anyone excluding theymos.
You're starting your thread with incorrect data, see the Top-merited users, all-time:
Code:
1549: theymos
686: Lutpin
626: satoshi
508: nullius
I wouldn't be surprised if nullius is #1 in a few months.

If you compare what words he uses to other users around here to the words that are used by other members around here, and on reddit on r/bitcoin you will eventually figure out who he is. (note: you will have to analyze more than just vocabulary, but also words used before and after words, and analyze this on a large scale).
You may find another anonymous account to link to him, but I highly doubt you'll figure out who he really is.
You have a point though, his peculiar language could be a giveaway of his identity. On the other hand, it could also be an act, not all his posts are like that.

Newbie can sometimes write such a good post, not always.
He spends a lot of time on his posts, I've seen a post in which he said he just wrote that post while taking a break from other post. Good quality long posts can easily take hours to compose.

Only a ‘Member’ ? Got to be somebodies ALT, I think QS might be right. An alt of who though?
Does it even matter? Alt-accounts are allowed, he loves his privacy, and doesn't spam. His posts are better than any other member I've ever seen. So I doubt he's someone's alt here.

Nullius even puts a lot of effort in the red trust he leaves!

Needless to say, I'm a fan Cheesy

This is not the first time I’ve had such a query; and last time was from someone with a five-digit uid.  Thus I wished the opportunity to address the matter clearly in public, without coming off as if I were the one suggesting the connection.

I’m not gmaxwell.  Though in terms of technical virtù and Bitcoin prowess, being asked if I am is some of the highest praise I’ve received here.  Indeed, it is a bit overwhelming; for due to my background, I’ve had to admit to him my inadequacy in maths and comp.sci:

Sipa also has AVX2 8-way sha2 and ripemd160 that he might post somewhere if you asked.  An 8-way bech32 checksum generator should be really easy to do,

Will ask.  Actually, I think I may have this mentioned somewhere in GH discussions; I didn’t pay attention, because I don’t yet own any machines with AVX2.  Not quite as rich as people think I am. <g>

I myself will not try implementing such things, even the “really easy” ones.  I don’t have the CS background.  After tinkering for years, I learned programming by reading FreeBSD kernel code until I thoroughly understood almost everything except the CS-heavy subsystems (vm, scheduler, etc.).  I think you see that my code reflects the style you’d expect from that experience.  Otherwise, as in all else, I take pride in knowing enough to know the limits of my own knowledge.

Also, for the record:  “nullius” is a nym I picked quite some years ago, and became far too attached to.  I had the nym reserved for some special future project long before I heard of /u/nullc—so yes, some years ago.

PS: Don't click on any links he provides, for they're ALL diatribe traps.  Shocked

Thanks.

I’ve been preparing a special “diatribe” for this thread.  You didn’t think I’d not reply here, did you?  But those take some time to write.  I’ll be back.

Then I started digging because I'm good at it and I finally got to the level where I found "nullius" is something else, something that we don't see around here so easily because it appears he has a strong cryptographic background... Yeah...... nullius is a BIG meanie... because he threatens you to make your posts better, otherwise he will call you (and/or your posts) retarded.

What is wrong with that?  You deserve such a label, no?

So far, I have seen that your posts have tended to suck pretty hard of a kind of irrelevant butthurtness, correct?    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

For instance being able to show such quality is what I look when I post, although I'm not even close to being that knowledgeable, but it still shows Merit system does actually work if you take care about how you express your ideas and you know what you are talking about.

In the sense of mocking others, I do not support that style, if you have something to say about someone else it's a much better choice to make it constructive instead of threatening but whether you like it or not this guy clearly knows his business...

You must be new to the interwebs.

In a large number of instances, you cannot deal with trolls, corporate shills and disingenuous posters by using politeness, logic and constructive ideas (facts and logic)...

Sometimes, you gotta play hardball with these nutjobs in order to make your point clearly and unambiguously and not coming off as a pussy.

Sure, frequently, nice and polite can work to possibly give the troll/shill one or two chances to redeem themselves from their seeming lack of substance, but some nutjob posts are decently obvious from the get go.. and frequently the nutjob has no right (and there is little to no benefit) to treat them with kid gloves when they have already shown their colors.  So, actually, if nullius or any other poster, such as TMAN were to go a bit overboard with his/her criticism of a seeming troll, the seeming troll could fairly easily redeem themselves by attempting to be constructive or backing off, but instead, what tends to happen is that the troll doubles down or posts some other kind of nonsense that proves that the earlier criticism of the troll was not overly done.

Nullius is the person beyond expectation from all DTs, a person surpassed the limitation of everyone's standard on this forum, a person that can be helpful for every situation that needs to be address here. Theymos as the brain manipulator or the one that gives function in this forum really need such extra-knowledgeable person.

I am just expressing my amusement with this guy for his highly favoured intelligent mind.

Through many minutes (ten, maybe eleven) of research I have figured out who nullius is.

Do these quotes sound similar?

Famous person:
“The thing about smart people is that they seem like crazy people to dumb people.”
“However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.”
“It matters if you just don't give up.”

nullius:
"In Bitcoinland, as you understand, the systematic denial of private property is bound to raise some ire."
"A truly great idea which could change the world can only be stopped by twisting and distorting it.  This has happened repeatedly in history"
"Bitcoin requires a new mindset.  To handle it, you must understand on a very deep level that mathematical algorithms rule as by divine right"

So.  It's obvious, nullius = Stephen Hawking.

This is a great thread to know what makes a good poster and how people who really want to work will not shy away from praising expertise and competence when they see it.

Nullius' has an enviable combination of knowledge, virtue and wit. To me, He sounds like someone with a lot of real world experience. He is the best I have seen when it comes to fighting the insidious kind of trolls (Ones with better English and a knack at making insinuations while making it sound like a genuine query/ misunderstanding. For example, look at some QS classics of "damned if you don't refute, damned if you do")

I think he is a great addition to the forum's army of the warriors of light..Smiley He shall be remembered for the role he played in thwarting the great troll attacks that dawned upon us in the early days of Lightning Testnet..

I agree with the poster who said we need a place to recognize those people here..I am typing this on a phone so the quotes and links are missing.

For those doubting on him, try filling your posts with multiple quotes and useful links. You'll know that it takes a special dedication and belief in the project to continue doing that. On suggestions that he is an alt, well, I am glad because the forum needs its champions. Nothing wrong in that.

Man you are awesome. Thanks for being here..

Not sure why avatar is important, you should ask moderator to remove avatar because it is of no value and signify nothing about the poster/owner of avatar, I agree with your less develop mindset that avatar should not be attacked because it is of no relevance with the owner's soul and identity

Yes.  I find it humorous to witness a modern version of an ad hominem attack, administered through an avatar.  And, of course, someone with your so far high minded mediocre posting history would find considerable relevance and value in such an "important" attack vector.

Hello Professor

Au contraire!

nullius:

"Oh, how cute:  It talks back!"
“I want to screw around, but I can’t, because I don’t know how to screw; so somebody must do it for me, BECAUSE I WANT IT.”
“Why don't you stop and think for a moment...  What the fuck... ...lest we get caught by some nut [C’est moi!]...”

Hello, Gilligan.

Humour aside, does my new role model use a text editor when penning his posts, then copy/pastes them here for posting? The reason I ask is because of the font style of the quotation marks he employs are different than if penning a post in this forum's text editor area.

" "

opposed to what nullius uses ...

“ ”

"All I know about Bitcoin is what I read in nullius' posts."

Pardon me to disagree but you do describe the likeness of their spectacle in the oversizeness and thickness, probably he needed it to read his code aloud and realized its so bad, he have to create new account and rage against Newbie and Jr. Member to wrestle the Merit to his account and sprinkle it with some copper for good measure just so he can claim his title of being important person here

Thank you mister professor I snip the quote as you please, very very thank you for reminding me it is foolish to not trim long quotes

Other guy said nullius is own by nobody I remember the movie of mr.nobody.
My very deep and personal understanding of nullius this individual is a programmer as null stands for error thus this person is highly possible that satoshi is working behind the scene hence we should all convert ourselves in Nullian bitcult before The Judgment Day occur.

P.S But if nullius favorite color is pink my hunch will tell me that a human named coin_artist might also working behind the scene, however it is a bit overboard.

EDIT: it is nice to add up nullius has become Phenomenal

I suggest we burn nullius at the stake before this gets out of hand.

This hoarding of merits has to stop. The merit system was designed to benefit Heroes and Legendaries. We can't have some lowly "member" getting 500 for some fancy words.

Look at when he started posting, what he advocates for, news related to major bitcoin companies and of course overall dishonesty and you will figure out who he is.

Not everyone is such an expert on dishonesty as you are, so why don't you just tell us who he is.

Hello Professor

Suggestion: Let's run a bounty for nullius head, put a juicy reward for the daredevil individual who unveils the identity of this enigmatic member of our community. I'm more inclined to believe he is related to Da Vinci:

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
“One can have no smaller or greater mastery than mastery of oneself.”
“The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions.”

- You could believe this was written by either.

It's obviously nullius' fault. Everyone is now forced to use a dictionary due to his fancy-worded essays. Three months ago y'all would have thought it means "promising". Also blame the merit system just because.

I just found this little gem of a thread and love this type of thing. I am a big time newbie to crypto still and I could spend days reading his post history. Too bad I won't know what much of it means...I already went through quite a bit and his writing is elegant and refined, but for me, it is hard to understand (technically speaking).

I once spent an entire afternoon just reading through Satoshi's old posts and many of Vitalik's...

There is truly some amazing content in this forum. I am very happy to be a part of this community. I hope someday I can offer more to it.

Honestly, I'm still shocked at this very moment after looking at the history of his posts, I couldn't say anything but Wow! Shocked For me, that "nullius" is a genious in the field of cryptocurrency and there's no doubt about that.

I realized that he is not a typical quality poster because he's way more than that (maybe he's an expert), many of his posts came from threads about complicated discussions that even me can't easily understand. You may also notice that his posts are direct to the point and don't have flowery words yet very substantial and informative that's why it's not very shocking to know if he got plenty of merits, the thing that made me amazed is  knowing the fact that he received merits every single day based on the summary of his merits.

Actually, I don't care anymore whether he is an alt of a significant person here, or he is satoshi or whatsoever, much more important is the inspiration he bring into me. That person made me eager to seek for more knowledge because I want also to become like him someday.

I guess somebody would've eventually gotten around to doing it so I opted to picked up the mantle.

Introducing CoinNullius (CNUS) opposed to NulliusCoin in the spirit of nullius' wordsmith prowess which everybody and their brother is are now aspiring to be like ...

"Hello, everyone. I'm Marina Orlova of Hot for Words. Today's word is nullius, Latin for ..."

CoinNullius is a military-grade cryptocurrency with 100% anonymity consisting of just one coin cuz there's nothing else like it. Its blockchain is secretly hidden on the Net accessible by ONLY one person in the galaxy whose true identity is unknown. There will be no ICO in distributing fractions of CNUS cuz ICOs are bad, mmmkay.

The white paper will be release once translated to Kingon then transcribed to Voynishi complete with flowery and nude illustrations. Expect completion time approximately 24 hours if nullius isn't interrupted by dribble penned by lowly posters.

OMFG! I just had a terrible thought, guys. What if we're being trolled by Craig Wright as nullius?

The above inspired by Satoshi:

Quote
Bitcoin would be convenient for people who don't have a credit card or don't want to use the cards they have, either don't want the spouse to see it on the bill or don't trust giving their number to "porn guys", or afraid of recurring billing.

I don't know who he is, but I can state pretty confidently that he has a great understanding of not only cryptography but also a lot of the other aspects of the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem.  He's absolutely someone that is quite intelligent and a "big picture" thinker, which is really refreshing to see on here.  Not saying there aren't others, but there is certainly a lot of crap posts lately, which I think and hope the merit system is going to fix.  I've read this forum on and off for years since the first time I ever played with Bitcoin back in early 2012 and I've learned so much from the good, quality discussions on here.  This is really a very unique place on the Internet, I should have joined long ago but I never got past the "just playing around" with Bitcoin phase until last year.  Like many, I thought it would be banned.  Incredibly exciting to know that not only will it not be banned, but it will in fact destroy so much of the corrupt rot that I thought would ban it.

I was having a conversation the other night with him, really got me thinking about some things, and I haven't had a chance to write back to him yet because I don't want to have to rush a reply.

In any event, I'm glad he's here.  His posts are of great quality.  If he has so many merits, it's because he's earned them!

Best regards,
Ben

Nullius posts good stuff, is clearly intelligent, and a definite asset to the community.

Until someone calls him out, that is.

Unfortunately, he's unable to take criticism, and shelters behind this weird Jane Austin meets Carl Jung persona, which makes him irritating and patronising in the extreme.

I'm not saying the merits haven't been earned - they have been. He's contributed.

I'm just saying that this guy isn't God, and don't for one second be afraid to argue if you see an error. He won't react well, but who cares?

A contributor, but not a pleasant one. His problem, not ours.

I'm just saying that this guy isn't God, and don't for one second be afraid to argue if you see an error. He won't react well, but who cares?

A contributor, but not a pleasant one. His problem, not ours.

I agree with you that it is a problem to deify anyone, even if they have a lot of good posts, and part of the issue is our own self, and sometimes we can become intimidated by very sophisticated posters - so in that regard, if we are going to respond or criticize anything, then we would need to make our criticism about a narrow point that we do understand or to make sure that we read enough and sufficiently to understand what we are criticizing exactly.

If we are sufficiently aware, then we will realize that in life there are going to be people who know way more than we do on a variety of topics, and sometimes even seemingly dumb people can have life experiences and knowledge that goes beyond our understanding (which could allow that they know more about some topics than we do).

Personally, i have an approach that I will give some benefit of the doubt to folks who I believe to be limited in their intellectual abilities, and even though I have also met people (IRL) who seem to be heads and shoulders above me in their mental abilities (and experiences), but I also try to NOT deify them, and there remain likely ways, that even geniuses (as you pointed out HodorHodl) have faults in their logic, their perceptions and/or their methods of communicating.

How much alt coin diversification is necessary? if you are investing in Bitcoin, then perhaps 0%?

I wouldn't've had a clue as to the reference if I wasn't brought up to speed a couple hours ago upon reading nullius' recent posts.

I'm still waiting for the first person to refer to him as Nutlius besides here, an alluded to sentiment I would not adhere to, with apologies to the mighty Nulliuster for even mentioning it.  Kiss Kiss Kiss

Now let's play Jeopardy!

Contestant: Classic Sitcoms for 100, Alex.
Alex Trebek: The answer is nullius, nullius, nullius.
Contestant: Who is Jan Brady's missing brother?
Alex Trebek: Correct.

"It is too correct! I had nullius check my work."

I love this thread!

Quote from:  gavinandresen.ninja/nullius
I believe Craig Steven Wright is the person who invented nullius.

I was flown to London to meet Dr. Wright a couple of weeks ago, after an initial email conversation convinced me that there was a very good chance he was the same person I’d communicated with on BCT. After spending time with him I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt: Craig Wright is nullius.

Part of that time was spent on a careful cryptographic verification of messages signed with keys that only nullius should possess. But even before I witnessed the keys signed and then verified on a clean computer that could not have been tampered with, I was reasonably certain I was sitting next to a genius.

During our meeting, I saw the brilliant, opinionated, focused, generous – and privacy-seeking – person that matches the nullius I worked with six years ago. And he cleared up a lot of mysteries, including why he disappeared when he did and what he’s been busy with since 2011. But I’m going to respect Dr. Wright’s privacy, and let him decide how much of that story he shares with the world.

We love to create heroes – but also seem to love hating them if they don’t live up to some unattainable ideal. It would be better if nullius was the codename for an NSA project, or an artificial intelligence sent from the future to advance our primitive money. He is not, he is an imperfect human being just like the rest of us. I hope he manages to mostly ignore the storm that his merit giving will create, and keep doing what he loves– learning and research and innovating.

I am very happy to be able to say I shook his hand and thanked him for giving the world to BitcoinTalk.

Craig this

Gavin that

I think Princess Alia has only confirmed that which we know to be true

We all had a front seat to the introduction, whirlwind romance, love filled affair and heartbreaking breakup of our dear nullius and his Princess Alia.

Who can forget those words uttered so long ago (last Tuesday I think) from our dear Bitcoin Princess Alia: “I think I am in love, let me do a video for you”….  I could just picture those long eyelashes fluttering..  my heart swelled in jealousy

Only a brilliant mind trapped in a wasted shell of a body could fall so fast, so …  so… hard, for Princess Alia’s electronic manipulations…. .of, well, the English language.

No

It's even more obvious, nullius = Stephen Hawking.

Hello Professor

(Get that idea out of your head, I  am not nullius's 15 year old brother)

<funny how my mind sometimes work, for who else could've gone from A to B like I accomplished above?>

Craig Wright is not that smart nor able to contain his slimy demonstration of emotions.

Of course he is. He can pay someone with the technical knowledge to control the nullius account.

Which brings me to another thought. Maybe the forum is under attack by the Bitcoin Cash trifecta, RV, JV and CW by hiring people to flood the forum with low quality posts! Haha.

Which makes me think of another theory. The entire crypto space is under attack by Russians with an attempt to get nullius elected president of the US where nullius is really a US citizen.

That said, anybody have a sound theory centered around MIB?

@Regana, nice work.

As of Activity Period 1257, which starts 2018-03-13 19:40:00 UTC, I will be eligible for Full Member rank.  That means I will be permitted to wear an avatar.

For the long term, I will most likely make a nym.zone logo and use that as my permanent avatar—either that, or an insignia specific to “nullius”.  In the interim, however, I fancy a little image rotation; and for a start, I’d enjoy using some fan art!

Hmmm...

Code:
$ convert OMUhOQp.jpg -crop 749x499+302+178 -resize 120x80 avatar0.png

Loading image...

Unless something else comes up in the next ten days, I suppose that may become my first avatar.

Perhaps I may even embed some variation of this in my PGP key(s), as a “photo ID” (formally a “User Attribute Packet” (Tag 17), “Image Attribute Subpacket” (Type 1); see RFC 4880 §5.12).

Code:
$ convert OMUhOQp.jpg -crop 749x899+302+178 -resize 240x288 pgp0.jpeg

Loading image...

Would it be convenient for you to provide source material, such that I could tweak the aspect ratio and text sizes in ways more suitable for different crops?

Last week, I began drafting for this thread a suitable “diatribe” (in YuTü.Co.in’s parlance).  It got put on hold, due to some unlucky forum drama.  Till I finish that, I may begin to work backwards and reply to others here, bit by bit.

I thank those who have been making friendly posts in this thread.

Cheers, all.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Marina Orlova of Hot for Words. Today's word is nullius, Latin for ..."

Hmmm...

Whoever this guy is, one thing I assume, he was born to be the first "living legend" in this forum. Nulluis means "own by nobody" this is the true meaning of legend, control by nobody.

The “nullius” nym is .onion-layered with meanings.  One for which I long cherished it is the implication that I am of nobody, from nobody, nobody’s.  (On the other side of the Nullian balance, I am nobody:  A pseudonymous ghost in the.nym.zone.)

I deemed this a fitting nym for the Bitcoin world, on grounds that Bitcoinum nullius est:  Bitcoin is nobody’s—“owned by nobody... controlled by nobody”, as livingancient observed.

I happen to like Core, but they are not Bitcoin.  They provide only the necessary prerequisite:  Reliable software which can keep safe the exchange value equivalent of hundreds of billions of dollars in value throughout the Bitcoin ecosystem.  Beyond that, you ought know as well as anybody that code alone can’t solve people problems.

Bitcoin is a sociological phenomenon.  Now we see the latest battle in an ongoing political war.  What fights for Bitcoin is—Bitcoin.  The thing is running headless, just as it’s supposed to do.  Bitcoinum nullius est.  It’s a decentralized social organism which belongs to nobody, with nobody in control.  It derives its value from its nature as such.  It fends off enemies by the power of multitudes who believe in it—and the many who have much to lose—many of whom are otherwise enemies with each other; all of whom agree on only one thing, Bitcoin.  Core (as L. cor) could stop the heart of Bitcoin by caving in, or ceasing technological improvements.  But this is beyond Core, you, me, or anybody else involved.

For Bitcoin owns; it is not owned.  I don’t mean the monetary component, in the sense of people who are owned by their wealth.  I refer to the sociological phenomenon.  Bitcoin owns.  You know what I mean.  Each and all of you know exactly what I mean.

(All emphasis and boldface are as in the original.)

The [CoinNullius] white paper will be release once translated to Kingon then transcribed to Voynishi complete with flowery and nude illustrations.

As not hereto disclosed by me in public:  One of my motives which led to some recent unlucky events was my desire for someone to work with for an erotic Bitcoin art project.

For now, I will leave my intentions a mystery; but girls who have really gone Bitcoin may feel free to contact me if curious.

Which makes me think of another theory. The entire crypto space is under attack by Russians with an attempt to get nullius elected president of the US where nullius is really a US citizen.

What’s the probability?  (...that “WANTED” poster did say “politically incorrect”, did it not?)

As for US-USSR being distinct without difference—why yes, I think you’re right.  They’re evil twins.

I agree that a thread created by my admirers, for the purpose of talking about me, should not become my daily personal soapbox; and I wouldn’t so spoil it.  But I do think the folks here may appreciate the occasional (many) word(s) from me, if and when I have something worthwhile to say on the topic.

Thread split:

I wouldn’t want to divert this thread to discussion of somebody unimportant, rather than nobody’s importance.

Personally, I prefer nullius hiding in a Mobile Phone shop then in a sorry-ass Sari Sari once owned by crypto's number one serial liar - Leroy Fodor (cyberpinoy) - complete with an internet cafe, disco, living quarters for four in the lower level (sometimes referred to as a basement in the civilized world), and the Philippines' largest bitcoin mining farm, all powered by an as-one-can-clearly-see-below west-facing solar array on a hot tin roof surrounded by towering coconut trees on three sides so to defuse the sun's powerful rays at its equatorial location, not to mention the piggery flanked by mango trees out back that when fired up, the aroma sent the locals into a frenzy, knowing that that once pet pig cooking on the barbie only meant one thing - there was a cock fight scheduled for the evening - which speaking of, rumor has it that it was some jealous cock fighter who burnt the sorry-ass Sari Sari to the ground because Fodor's fowls were fierce fighters, a skill set he acquired in the Carolinas from his uncle while moonlighting cleaning toilet bowls of well-to-dos with his mail-order bride while trading on FOREX, selling his practice account so to get into bitcoin in 2009 thanks to the advice of a fellow toilet bowl cleaner, affording Leroy to purchase the sorry-ass Sari Sari across the street from his in-laws who also suffered form brownouts and intermittent Internet connection at best, but not enough to effect the Philippines' largest bitcoin farm while Leroy island hopped the archipelago, conducting free seminars in teaching his fellow countrymen how they, too, can go from amassing cryptos from faucets to owning a similar-sized crypto mining farm as his in only three short months.

Ah.... sweet memories. I'm still puzzled how a lying piece of shit like Leroy could get 100+ BTC to piss away. Such a waste.

But nullius has not pissed away 100+ BTC of other poeple's money. There, back on topic.

If I have questions. I might start reading his posts like a book, it might help me improve my destitute posting lol. He might be good but we have to admit that most of us actually sometimes find it hard to understand what he is actually saying.

I've read one of his post and it took me 30-45 mins to understand the whole post.  Tongue
You should print his post, immerse it in the water and drink the water and become novelist just like him

I envy him, tho the suggestion given was the complete opposite of what I am currently thinking. Instead of putting immersing it in the water, A wine would be a much wiser choice.

"To be a novelist like him", before this would happen. I would find my self first crawling as I walk to my home cause that might take me to a dozen of wine bottles

I've always found Cicada 3301 to be very interesting.  Never had much time to really deep dive it, seemed to be way over my head but intriguing nonetheless.  People that have been able to solve those puzzles are certainly geniuses.

Best,

O, New World Buddha, that’s not the first time you’ve asked that—nor, I suppose, the zeroeth.  Though it’s true that I love 💓 strong crypto, I’ve quoted Nietzsche, and I so happen to be listening to Bach right now, William of Ockham may suggest this means nothing but that I am possessed of intelligence, good taste, and a passion for privacy.

Outside the foregoing statements, I deem it unwise to be drawn into answering your query.  Excepting one instance thus far whereby I wished to avoid potential trouble to gmaxwell, I have been forced into a “neither confirm nor deny” policy as to such speculations ever since notoriously illiterate forum troll o_e_l_e_o trapped me in a paradox:

I claim that your real name is Michael Cassio.

There are now two potential outcomes:

1 - You don't deny it, and therefore it is true.

2 - You do deny it, provide proof it is not true, and in doing so, dox yourself.

Either way, you will have lost your reputation of being un-doxable!

Quote from: Michael Cassio (AKA Nullius)
Reputation, reputation, reputation! O, I have
lost my reputation! I have lost the immortal part of
myself, and what remains is bestial.

Whereupon a scurrilous paparazzo named Ludovico Marchetti (1853–1909) time-travelled to catch a photo of me consorting with a woman who has been accused of being a “working girl”, then leaked the photo onto the Internet via a Russian site:

Loading current photograph of nullius with a woman...

o_e_l_e_o then bugged my undisclosed secure location, and caught me crying out:

Quote from: Michael Cassio (AKA Nullius)
You rogue! You rascal!

Alas, I have been robbed of my 😈😈😈 PRIVACY!!! 😈😈😈  This sad misfortune has left the sinister o_e_l_e_o bragging, with impeccable logic:

I doxxed Nullius weeks ago. He has not denied it, therefore it stands as fact.

For the coup de grace, after my photo was leaked, unidentified person(s) h4x0r3d my forum account and set my current avatar and personal text to:

Please pay attention and recognize tongue-in-cheek posts. nullius' avatar is at least his second attempt, thus fully aware of how to replace it unless, that is, he paid alia to do it for him.

nullius: alia, am I's in you or am I's back in the mud?

LOL, nice one. New Age Buddha. I feel enlightened! Ya, this is neither the zeroeth nor the first time when I said you might be a member of Cicada 3301 group. But since that thread is locked, this theory can't be hyped there. Therefore, I brought it here! And well, your PGP messages and codes seem to be out of my brain range. Maybe you are calling your group allies for 'elp. And since you are neither denying nor accepting this theory, therefore it means it is very difficult for you to come up with an excuse. But do remember silence often goes in the favour of interrogator!!

**Don't take my words seriously. I am just enjoying fanning a theory. Cheers!

Please stop.  I am becoming dizzy!

nullius' avatar is at least his second attempt, thus fully aware of how to replace it unless, that is, he paid alia to do it for him.

I paid alia 0.99 BTC, in exchange for which she provided to me a 3-line script which loses avatars.

O, New World Buddha,

LOL, nice one. New Age Buddha. I feel enlightened!

I said, “New World Buddha”.  1492.  Several major historical events occurred that year.  For breakfast, I eat Columbus Eggs with my fresh-ground BWV 211.  Thus, I picked the one which seemed the best fit; I may start on your avatar next...

Siddartha

nullius' avatar is at least his second attempt,

Actually, this is only avatar [2] if you count from [0] like a C programmer.  nullius_avatar[0] was made from Regana’s “WANTED” poster upthread:

Loading...

nullius_avatar[1] was swapped into place after Toughit posted this in an active thread I had started:

Merited by hilariousandco (1), figmentofmyass (1), BTCforJoe (1), nullius (1)[/color][/size]
Some of the legendary don’t see the need for new ranks, for others, they would like something to work for, and for nullius, well there is… this

Rank              Threshold
Newbie              0
Jr. Member        10
Member            30
Full Member     100
Sr. Member      250
Hero Member   500
Legendary       1000
Mythical          2000
Nullius            7000

So.. why not add a rank or two?  Seriously, who does it hurt?

For nullius to achieve the highest level (Nullius), at the current pace of 12.55/merit per day, it would take 506 days to rank up.  Probably need more time for the activity to catch up.

Going to need more coin… and an average post length line.

What seems to be missing (a lot) is a sense of humor.

Thus:

Loading...

Then, the h4x0rs pwned my account and changed everything.  Help!

Duh, it's so easy. With the window open, on your keyboard, press the following keys simultaneously: Alt + F4

Problem solved.

I tried that, and my Internet Explorer window disappeared.  I had to open the Internet again (click the blue e...).  Do you think I should try Ctrl-Alt-Del?  Or mayhap I ought unplug my computer to protect it from transient surges, throw it down an air shaft to perform quantum gravitational hermeneutics to better interpret and troubleshoot the problem, and then rub magnets over my backup disks to restore Gauss polarity to the RLL controller substrate?  Would that restore my avatar and personal text?

(If you want to be so “helpful”, then you’ll need to do better than “Alt + F4”.)

So.  It's obvious, nullius = Stephen Hawking.

Hello Professor

Hello.  A remote similarity I have to Dr. Hawking:

Speakin' of Dr. Hawking, do you know why God called him home?

To use his wheelchair so that the old fart can more easily get around.

St Peter: It says here that you haven't uttered a single curse word in decades.
Dr. Hawking: No shit, ass whip! Now tell me again why you're takin' my fuckin wheelchair.
St Peter: God needs it.
Dr. Hawking: Fuck that old fart, and tell him that if I see his fuckin ass, I'm gonna stick pineapples up where entropy doesn't shine. This fuckin place sucks. Speakin' of suckin', is that Jim Nabors over there talkin' to Liberace?
St Peter: Actually, Jim's talkin' to a Bill Murray imitator.
Dr. Hawking: Cool! If Ernie Banks is up here, then strike my discontent.
God: Weeeeeeeeeeeee!
Dr. Hawking: Freak! My money's on he'll crash it before the day's out. BTW, how long is a day up here anyway?

Alhough nullius has here stood accused of creating artistic alternative realities in cipherspace, he would never plan do anything like serializing an erotic Bitcoin novel under an alt account.  Never!

I am nobody’s, and my love is nobody’s.  Whereas I would do anything for Bitcoin.

My guess is he got bored with the lack of intellectual stimulation we provided. He must have found the secret forum for geniuses and abandoned us mere mortals.

Well, he did dare him to do so:
As for getting doxed, I dare Quickseller and his schizoid Sybil army to try.  That’s not empty bravado:  I say about that the same as I do about hacking.  The NSA could probably do it to me; Internet troll canaille can’t.
Then again, from his own statement, it's more likely the NSA did it. Which means he's in some secret black site prison now, obviously without internet.

Disclaimer:
This is entirely based on speculation.

@NSA: I didn't hack your stuff. Leave me alone!

Yeah, I seem to recall he's vehemently opposed to Javascript and thinks CloudFlare is a MitM attack vector. Well, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...

I've been thinking if it would be possible to setup some sort or proxy for Bitcointalk, another site that shows a real time copy, and allows someone to post too. That way, the proxy can take care of the Javascript, and the user can just browse and post without it. It should be a paid proxy so spambots won't use it.

~ and thinks CloudFlare is a MitM attack vector. Well, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...
He's not alone:
What I meant is that Cloudflare can see your unencrypted password when you log in. It's still encrypted from the real server to Cloudflare and from Cloudflare to you. So it's not blatantly insecure except in that Cloudflare is very probably an NSA honeypot, and it's not like the NSA is going to steal your password in order to scam people on bitcointalk.org or anything. If you use PGP for important communications and use a unique password, then IMO this addresses the plausible attacks well enough.

ChipMixer suggested somthing similar. BitcoinTalk Pro account - no Cloudflare proxy?

It looks like theymos just wasn't sure how to implement it so it doesn't get abused.

Where does he say that? I read both threads and didn't see theymos' reply, but I would love to bump ChipMixer's thread if there's any validity to having an alternative onion site to use.
