The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

A curiousity/future reference question. What would the interest be on a 1 btc loan for one week with no collateral? I know some people are very cautious and some are quick to give and im going to assume that the interest would be high due to the risk. If it sounds reasonable ill give the reason im asking for the loan.

Probably 0%.  No one will loan to you without collateral.

The interest won't matter a single bit without the guarantee of repayment.  A collateral in other words, especially for a newbie like you with no trust,
sorry.

Is there an alternative to BTC as collateral?

I'll offer you 1.0 BTC for about a week, for 0.25 BTC flat interest.  Lower for repeat deals.

You haven't committed to Kracker89 yet. I'll up the ante to 1.30 BTC payback in one week.
