Ok here's the write up for the independent PSU connection:

1. I cut the 24 pin lead off a dead PC PSU

2. I cut all the wires off except the BLACKS and the REDS (red carries +5v).

3. Not knowing which exact RED actually carries the voltage that the hub uses:

     a. Because these were 20 gauge wires and would probably melt, I piggybacked and soldered a YELLOW wire to each RED (I used the yellows from what I had cut off)

     b. I also soldered another ground to each black wire (well I started to then got sick of it so only did 3...)

Here's the finished 24pin side:

http://img.techpowerup.org/131104/IMG_20131104_202524.jpg

4. I then soldered all the corresponding leads on the other end together (and braided it yes but that's just my OCD).

5: With them all soldered together, I connected the red wires to one +5V lead, and the yellow to the other +5V lead on the PSU

Here's the connections made at PSU, all reds off one lead, all yellows off another, the main black ones all on one negative, and the soldered on ones on another lead.

http://img.techpowerup.org/131104/IMG_20131104_202405.jpg

And here it is happily hashing away:

You have to put power to it first, and make sure you install the fuse also.

Not that stupid Smiley
Have sufficient power, and fused installed....

It keeps freezing on installing usb 2.0 hub [mtt]. It will process 4-5 of them and than freeze on the last one.

interesting bottom right corner... maybe that's contributing to an issue?
try a different system?

Making today's last run to USPS in 30

canary, any word on the cube price and specs?
If rumors pan out than it would be about 3x the spec of a blade and overclockable in software?  There's no other info. As usual, friedcat will make his post/announcement on forums for all to see.

I found a little more info  :

 2 btc
30-38gh
 120 watts

there is a site in Canada taking pre orders..

http://www.wtcr.ca/catalog/product/bm-ambec-01

and a German thread mentions 120 watts.  My German is not that good so the 120 watts may be an error.

the german thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=245990.msg3465116#msg3465116

and in reading it again the 120 watts may be wrong

I have to say that a 2btc cube that is usb plug n play and is 30-38gh will sell.  Even if it is more like 220 watts vs 120 watts.

2 BTC is a good price. Not sure how good it will be in a few days with next diff jump. Hope next diff is not at 550m !

This is the second system I tried this hub on, both times I get the same error. The other system has a genuine copy of windows 7. I'm beginning to think it's the hub.

Right, I see it now, 505-520 range, shit, that's a lot! This should be pretty accurate now as we close to the next jump?

Some progress. I was able to get ports 15-28 and ports 26-49 to work. All the other ports have power, but windows will not recognize any device on them...

Got linux?

Is this plugging in just the hub without any sticks and letting windows install generic hub drivers, or are you plugging it in with all sticks in the hub already? Try the hub alone. Also try going into device manager and uninstalling generic hub driver for each hub(7x7). Then plug it back in, without any units, and see if windows can install the generic driver for each sub-hub.

http://i43.tinypic.com/2vnh0te.jpg

All setup and mining. It didn't work till I unplugged my 4 other 10 port hubs, than connected the 49 port hub with no miners in it. That got it too recognize most of the ports. Restarted again and switched usb ports on my desktop - finally recognized all the ports. That literally took a good 5 hours to set this damn thing up... Should of been so easy...

I can verify this PSU works with this hub as well.

Will this work? How do you calculate which PSU is good for a specific gear. I cannot understand the details on this PSU at all.
