At $25.000 market cap, 5% would be only $1250. And there is no buy support to absorb even that, so the new dev couldn't just dump the coins. A new dev would be automatically committed to bet on the market to recover from where we are now.

With all due respect, I disagree.

1)  I beleive any dev interested in HoboNickels should buy into the coin first to show commitment to an already well-developed coin. As you have pointed out, it is cheap enough to buy at this moment in time;
2)  To give the new dev (or Tranz) 5% of the market cap i.e. 1,500,000 HBN would give the dev a massive power to mint an obscene amount;
3)  To stake and mint 1,500,000 coins in a large number of blocks would raise the difficulty in favour of the dev and push the rest of us out;
4)  The minting interest on 1,500,000 HBN unloaded every 10 days would depress the market if 'dumped' on a continual basis;
5)  The power given to one hand to potentially be able to dump 1,500,000 HBN in a short period of time is something that I don't want hanging over my head - once bitten twice shy. Someone dumped a large amount of HBN in the last few months for HoboNickels to be where it is now;
5)  We all already contribute to HoboNickels whether it be through our contributions to this column, or maintaining the network by staking with our computers - we need to recognise that valuable input. We have a strong community that any dev worth his salt should be happy to have behind him in support.

As far as increasing the 250 HBN threshold, I disagree with that too. To increase it tenfold, as has been suggested, could compromise one of HoboNickel's claims to fame - a low coin supply which aids value (supply and demand). In my opinion Tranz has steered HoboNickels in the right direction. I don't think we need to change anything too much. I believe there is good cause to believe that the price of HoboNickels will increase soon enough given a modicum of care and attention.

Anyone having sync issues? My wallet crapped out on me yesterday with Assertion Fail & would not load. So I deleted all but my wallet.dat files & used the bootstrap from 4/16 & now the wallet is syncing very slow, I mean slow & will get stuck on a time value.

If you just like to wait forever,  Tongue

Otherwise use my HBN Snapshot from
8-30-2016 , it will be faster.  Smiley

HBN Snapshot

Kiklo's Premium Blockchain Snapshot Service

 Cool

It finally synced today but when I go to add my backup wallets it fails saying the naming is not correct. I can get my wallet.dat to work but all of my other wallet.dat files I have backed up will not load.

Can you help me load my back up wallets please.

I used this guide once before with luck, but now the wallet tells me my other wallet.dat files are corrupted.

I agree with you. The coin's specifications are perfectly fine. If anything, increase the blocktime to 1-2 minutes and adjust the rewards to compensate.

The problem lies within the codebase and blockchain bloat. We honestly need a blockchain swap at this point. We need to swap to the latest hybrid codebase and go from there. We do not need to introduce a premine for dev work. The coin is cheap enough as it is.

I used this guide once before with luck, but now the wallet tells me my other wallet.dat files are corrupted.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/9590-hbn-trouble-shooting-guide-wallet-corruption/

What I would try :
Open HBN Client
Click New Wallet,  (Do this for each old wallet.)
Then Close the HBN client.
rename your old wallets.dat to match the name of the newly created ones.
Then Place the renamed wallets in your C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\HoboNickels\  directory.

Then Restart the HBN Client and your balances should be there.

That method did not work, it says the wallet.dat files even after renaming them to match the new wallets are corrupt. RIP 75k HBN :*(

Salvage your privkeys from there (bitcointools will help you if nothing else) and import them into a working wallet. It will take a while to rescan a block chain 4 million blocks long. The current HBN client can import and rescan one key at once, so the whole task may be very time consuming.

Did you download from me at Kiklo's Premium Blockchain Snapshot Service
or did you download from Cryptochainer?

Also what was the exact error message and how much ram is in your system?
Also Windows or Linux or Mac?

I am syncing HBN Snapshot up to today's date now and will post it once it is uploaded.  Smiley

That is a file corruption error, did it work for a few days , or did you get the error as soon as you installed the snapshot?
Also are you on version v1.5.1.0-gf46fa0c-V1.5 ?

Found the problem the snapshot was missing blk0002.dat,
Updated.  Smiley

HOBONICKEL BLOCKCHAIN SNAPSHOT
            (The Fastest Way to Sync)

Version used with this Snapshot
_______________________________________________________________________________ ____
You will need a program that can uncompress rar files, example:  http://rarlabs.com/download.htm

Filename:   HBNBlockChainSnapShot-(Date Created).rar
Download:  https://mega.nz/#F!DBxjDbgC!3Um0nxoE4QZlJ8Co_-EDsg

NEW Wallet: Install Instructions
Make a HoboNickels folder under C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\
Then Extract and copy the files from HBNBlockchainSnapShot.rar into
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\HoboNickels
Then open HoboNickels-qt.exe and it will start syncing the BlockChain from the last snapshot.

ACTIVE Wallet:Install Instructions ,
(Be sure to have a backup of your Wallet.dat 1st)
Make sure HoboNickels is closed
Go under c:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\HoboNickels (for Windows) or in the HBN data folder for other OSes
Then Delete 5  files :  .lock & blk0001.dat & blk0002 & db.log & debug.log
Then Delete 2 folders named : database & txleveldb
Then Extract and copy the files from HBNBlockchainSnapshot into
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\HoboNickels
Then open HoboNickel and it will start syncing the BlockChain from the last snapshot.

Once your HBN Wallet is completely Synced.
Check your Balance, if the Balance is incorrect.
Click on Help, click Debug Window, click Console,
type in repairwallet and hit enter, then check your Balance
If Balance is still not correct.
Then From a Command Prompt run HoboNickels-qt.exe -rescan
will take a little while but should correct your balance info.
