What do you think about blockchain cloud data storage
(similar to dropbox, google disk, but with the usage of users' HDD)?

I have seen a couple of ICO projects with this idea, but failed to receive the answers:
- Is it possible to ensure a good exchange rate between users?
- Is it safe to trust personal information to a system like that?
- Is blockchain the best solution for a system like that?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I don't think the Blockchain is good for a cloud data storage. For one a typical Blockchain will only store text. Therefore anyone using the service would only be able to store text and not files or anything. You could alter the Blockchain to store different types of data. but personal information among the Blockchain wouldn't be good as the blockchain is public and any information stored on it would be available to anyone who happens upon it.

I've invested a very very small amount on a project you described a year ago. Take a look at SiaCoin. Not 100% sure if it's currently the best cloud storage blockchain project though as I haven't done much research recently.

Take a look if you're interested: https://sia.tech/
