Do u see "Catching up..." message over the recent blocks?

Edit: What is the time difference? Make sure u r within +/- 15 sec frame.

No, I don't see a catching up message.
Also, both peers show 0B for the download but there are some bytes counting for the upload.
I already killed my firewall but that doesn't seem to make a change.

Just synced my time again with the time server as well.

"You can generate the next block in 20 minutes" - how this time is calculated? why it sometimes increases?

Yes, that did the trick. Thanks.
Where can I see what version I am running?

When it's launched it writes something like Nxt 0.2.3 launched.

It's changed each new block. To know how it's calculated u should read 1st 10 pages of this thread starting from Cunicula's question how mining works. Scroll pages until u see a vampire rabbit avatar with a lot of skulls around.

Doesn't matter in the long run. But with 2 accounts u'll get lesser variation, but will mine blocks not so often.

A suggestion. Display version number in GUI. I think that is helpful especially in early days where there are frequent fixes.

Good suggestion. If BCNext sends it to client I can write it in the webpage title.

On my VPS I'm connected to 37 peers, but see only blocks up to 297. "Catching up" message is there forever. Restarted the server and waited 10 minutes, still only block 297.

edit: installed client locally to test it out (12 peers), it got 298 blocks, but then the same "Catching up" message, so cannot do any transactions.

Radix - just imagine

Is there a difference in block 297 id on ur computer and on 88.198.210.245? If yes, then u r on other branch. Anyway u can delete all *.nxt files and restart soft. This usualy happens when a node that was feeding u with new blocks became disconnected.

Okay I went out for a walk and now I see a lot of posts among which some few nice points and bug reports came up..
I made 2 or 3 transactions after the launch and it proceeded well and quickly and everything looked alright at my end.. didn't try mining, may try it tonight!
Some news:
1-Pouncer will open a Buy/Sell thread soon, so people can go there and put their bid or ask offers, a google docs page is attached to project the spread in a table+ an escrow request form is added, let's hope we get more trusted escrow guys there to help processing the future deals.
2-I am waiting for a guy to start the giveaway thread and manage the bounty pool as well, but if he doesn't show up, I may start the giveaway thread tomorrow morning and post the bounty thread as well. Anyway I won't run it for a long time, perhaps one week to show another volunteer guy about how to do it. I am just a stake holder like you, so instead of spamming this thread, please move your ass, come ahead and help!
Wish Nxt success and all of us wealth  Wink

In my vps client when I got stuck and tried to kill nxt and restart it, I could not get rid of the .nxt files. They kept reappearing. So I figured the process was still active even though i rebooted again and again.

Now it is fixed.

But why this bug?

PS: I struggle to setting up this and figure out how it works - I want to make my local client to work as well. When I will finish with the technicalities I will be able to follow up on bounties, giveaways, faucets, escrow etc....

Very good. Right now Nxt market cap is 800'000 USD. I hope with a good exchange we'll reach 10'000'000 USD very soon.
