What do you think of the merit system?

I only ask because you have not sent a single merit since it was implemented.

3 of your 4 received merits are discussing a soccer coach, not related  to bitcoin or the forum (unless betting, which I did not look).

I have three points to contribute to discussion of the topic.

1. You are right. In real world, legends will be remember forever. That is original definition of the word "Legend"

Legend is ever-lasting ones, so no need to have new rank above Ledgendary position in our forum.

Heroes are forgotten every day.  Legends are remembered forever.

2. Furthermore, if users are not knowledgable enough, new rank requirements ane merit system will take them years to move up to Ledgendary rank  . That is another point should be taken into consideration when thinking about new, higher rank than Ledgendary.

3. Final point is, which priveledges higher-than-Ledgendary rank will have? By now, Hero and Ledgendary ranks have same rewards on signature campaigns, bounties, airdrops. And if we have higher-than-Ledgendary rank, will they have same rights/ rewards as Hero and Ledgendary ones, too?
That sounds likely weird, un-realistic idea, personally.

As a Full Member I got 100 merits, and have to go to 250 to get Senior Member, a 2.5 multiplier, I applied it here, Legendary is 1000, Mythical (or whatever) would be 2500.

So you used two data points (Full Member/Senior Member) when you could have used three   (250, 500, 1000).  It's very likely the next number will be 2000.

So tell me, how many members have 2000 merit?  Only one - Theymos.

Is he going to introduce a group to make himself the exclusive member and infer that we are not as good as him?  

I would predict that a new group will not be announced until there are several/many members in it.  So I wouldn't hold your breath.

Rules can change over time, but by now I think there is no demand for new rank which is above Ledgandary. As God said, it might be taken into consideration in the future (3 or 6 months since now, I guess).
After having new rank, rewards for campaigns allocated for each member rank will change.
Keep contributing and some days you will be Above Ledgandary rank.

An even better idea than this "Mythic Level". Let's have an "Unranked" MMR system whereby new posters are not allocated a rank for 10 posts. After 10 posts, they are awarded a rank, even up to Legendary, depending upon the merit they received for their 10 posts.

a new level based on Merits would be an awesome idea, it should be solely based on merits earnt and not what we were given. so say 1K merits earnt is the threshold and any member rank gets the new rank when it hits..

maybe call it a merit legend!

As I have said before I think there should be a new rank as Legendary is becoming far too common now, but I think the ranking system should just follow the current activity pattern that we have that doubles with each one and Legendary should become fixed instead of random:

Sr. Member:   Activity: 240   
Hero Member:   Activity: 480
Legendary Member: Activity: 960
Mythical/Lamborghini/Whatever Member: Activity: 1920

Some sort of additional 'Sage' rank or title could be considered for achieving a high level of merit as well which maybe comes with an additional perk or two. You could of course also make the Mythical/Lamborghini/Whatever Member rank require some number of merit to achieve as well.

Introducing a bugatti veyron rank based on activity (somewhere between 1840-2000?) could be understood but creating a rank based only on merit is a little bit messy.
No one could judge the merit system until most active/generous people run out of smerit (<25%? after excluding sources) which could happens in the next few months-1 year? from now if the chosen ones aren't that many to cover all the section.
Making a calculation based on the first month is biased..

Well i agree with OP's suggestion since the legendary rank is very common now but, i think the required merit to obtain the rank, 2500 merits is very high and unobtainable since Merit are not easy to obtain, you have to do what theymos do to reach the new rank since he is the top merited user with 2500+ merits i suggest that you should lower the merit requirement around 1500 and the activity required is 2000 but i agree the mythical is higher than legendary.
