I am building my next rig, based on 1060 cards. I am having trouble in deciding if I should spend some more on the 6GB version.

It is my understanding that 3GB is mostly problematic when mining Ethereum which I don't, I prefer to mine Equihash coins .

So is there a reason to pay extra for the 6GB card?

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Its not just a memory difference. The core count is a bit less on the 3Gb card (1152 vs 6gb 1280).

So they will always hash slightly less. If you dont care about Eth, then get the 3GB card. The best deals will be on those for sure.

Bit more hash rate, better resell value.  But like you, I opt for 3gb one because it was 60 bucks (x8 = $480) cheaper and I only use them for equihash Smiley

Way better resell value go for the 6gb.  I sold 3 rx580's with 8gb they went for more then i paid for them.
