Some users are using tricks to harvest a lot of merit/smerit. As per observation exchanging, connivance and intentionally farming of merit were happen into bitcointalk community. The link below were shows the people who abusing merit system.

Some members of bitcointalk community were experimenting how to cheat to gather a lot of merits to rank up/join in signature campaign bonus.

I also hate shitposters spamming sig campaigns with 100 alts. So what's the compromise if it's deleted? How about we just make the merit requirements 1/2 of what they are currently? I said this on day 1 it's a good solution, and I'll stick with it. That's not too harsh, and it still makes merit incredibly hard to achieve for rank-up. A nice compromise in my mind. What else did you have in mind?

The merit system is great, and it seems to be working in its basic form.

Enhance it by banning anyone selling merits, and fining anyone abusing the merit system -50 merits, and that includes those buying merit.

I do believe account farmers on my local board are now "dying". They are having a hard time to increase their alts rank because spamming will not increase their rank anymore. But of course, it won't affect them too much if their alts were already high-ranked.

Spamming is highly reduced, but still not entirely gone. That happens because those spammers rank is already high (full member up), so they don't think about merit. They just wanted to post to get their sign rewards. Even a legendary (not all of them, of course) from my local board is still posting a low-quality post until now.

So, let's report them, to make sure they got banned and got tagged if they are abusing the merit system.
Bounty managers should take part in this too. Don't accept someone who got tagged and abused the merit system in their sig campaign.

Is it possible to do auto ban to users sending merits to accounts under the same IP? If this is possible, it will greatly reduce merits exchange and abuse using alt accounts

it's still another barrier to account farmers and discourages spamming, there's no reason to do away with it, it just doesn't work as effectively as people thought it would, from what i've been able to glean off here in the past few hours.

along with theymos's stance on alt accounts, i dont think this will ever be a thing (especially since a lot of users might share ip addresses if they are using the same vpn server / tor node), although it would prove to be effective given that the point i put in the parentheses there was a nonfactor.

Until now there's a lot of users trying to make a strategies on how to cheat, I don't know what they are thinking why they continue do this matter. But still they can't win because they were always caught in the act.

As advise to many users stop making fooled all people inside this sites because even how secretly they do cheating their smell are always spreading. They can't hide it for long period of time, because people in this site are not stupid like what they are thinking.

You've got your answers on how to police them from the links you provided. People will keep reporting them once discovered and if it's found out that they're farming or trading merit between themselves then their accounts will be ruined with negative feedback. Most people will figure it's not worth the risk but for those who do try it and get caught all the accounts that are involved will likely be ruined from ever joining a campaign so hopefully most will just accept that and learn to earn merit the natural way rather than take the gamble.

It was a lecture to them, I'm sure some of them (not sure) will scared to do the same because of this sanction many users not trying to cheat anymore.

Also we can see their connections to each other since they are giving merits to each other. That's why they try to make cheat, because they want to ranked up so fast. Merit system is a good challenged to all users but due high numbers of cheaters reputation a this system was starting to fall down.

Unfortunately a forum cannot function or change its rules based on what you hate or love about it. It is not right to just think of our own benefits and neglecting the spam going on this forum. One thing that most of the new people do not realize that if this forum does not take strict actions against spam, it will become useless. There will be hundreds of useless posts repeating the same advice and all the good posts will be lost in that crowd. Will any advertiser like to advertise on such a forum ?

Only shitpostes and "don't care about forum" people hates our new system. This is the only thing that can stop members here doing shitpost and one-liner while earning huge money in altc. Do you think about that? You're just thinking only yourself and don't care about the forum.

If you can't earn merits while you are posting more and more, the merit system is not the problem, you. That's why you are hating the system that has many advantage to our forum. Then if this is the case, you are not allowed to hate it just for not receiving merits, hate the quality of your post.
