Hey all,

Having a very strange problem with my rig. Currently running 10 x RX580 and 2 x RX560, W10Pro, 2 x 1000W PSU, H110 mobo. The problem is that the rig will run stable for a while - anything from an hour to a week. Then half the rig will crash, but it's an unusual crash. It's as if the second PSU overloads and shuts itself off (all the fans are off, cards are off etc.) The odd thing is, there's less load on that PSU. The first PSU runs 6 x RX580s, and the mobo. The second PSU just powers 4 580s and 2 560s. Both PSUs are identical, and connected by one of those 24-pin Y cables.

So far, in an effort to eliminate variables, this is what I've tried:
- Tried various algos, Ethash being most demanding (in terms of Wattage) and Cryptonight being the lowest. Currently on CN, which also has 0 HW errors on all cards EXCEPT ONE.
- Tried various drivers, 3 or 4 from Blockchain drivers to current adrenaline ones. Currently running Crimson 17.11.4, which has proven to be the most reliable for my setup
- Measured Wattage at the wall. Second PSU is around 450-500W draw.

Things I haven't tried:
- Replacing risers (one of the 580s on the 2nd PSU throws up a number of HW errors, not sure if this is the cause)
- Getting a new PSU (reluctant to do this)
- Crying

Any ideas?

yeah win10  drops clocks

try smos simplemining.net

use a decent usb stick  and 2 bucks a month

for 1 rig.

his clocks stay put as it is linux based. not win 10 based.

set watts for  about 650-750 a psu

I think you are dropping clocks  and the watts max  on the second psu   4x 580 + 2x 560 maxed will overload the psu

I don't think that's going to happen. I like the flexibility/familiarity of W10. It's been stable up until recently.

but thanks for the suggestion

good luck with it .

you could replace the riser you mentioned pretty cheap fix if it works

hello, my friend tried to do :

1.checking VGA card temperature, if you use afterburner application, RX type usually more than 80C will not run, for that add "power limit".
2.try to do and see the riser power cable, do not charge in one of the PSU, try to share.
I hope your mining machine becomes smooth again.
