Altcoin is alternate coin. Describe in one word? The word I choose is babies! They're like bitcoin's babies  That roam the cryptocurrency world to help startup businesses. Usually they're self proclaimed as a better substitute to bitcoin, since they look up to their daddy which is bitcoin. They were like followers who follow the steps of their father. Really hard to explain altcoin incorporated in a word I chose. But that is what you're looking for, so I hope you have fun reading this. |

Altcoin in one word, i would say ETHEREUM. Because it's the first alternative coin after Bitcoin and it's the mother of all other Altcoins and has proven to be less volatile than other Altcoins. |

Because it comes from the words: alternative cryptocurrency. Many of them have the same features: blockchain, decentralization, proo of work/stake and so on.

Altcoins in full means the alternative bitcoins. It can actually be explained as any crypto currency that is similar to bitcoin. After bitcoin was created and after a few years appreciated and made waves and even made the holders very rich, since then thousands of other similar crypto currency have been developed which we now call the altcoins. Many altcoins are trying to find out any perceived limitations that bitcoin already has and come up with a newer and better version with a competitive advantage. Only a few altcoins will get it right in the end.
