Will a PCIe x1 -> x16 adapter work in any PCIe slot?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows whether or not a PCIe x1 -> x16 adapter cable will work in any PCIe slot. Or does it only work for x1 slots? Thanks in advance!

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

works in any slot, but some motherboards will require you to short the two presence pins together if you're going to put a x1 cable into a x16 slot
