The Dutch central bank and financial services regulator say that the country must introduce a licensing regime for crypto exchanges and wallet providers in order to tackle money laundering and terrorist financing.

In a joint statement, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) also call for the European regulatory framework for corporate funding to be amended to enable the use of cryptos that are comparable to shares or bonds.

Regulation of cryptocurrency by the states should occur in any case. It is only important how far such regulation goes. Licensing the activities of exchanges and exchangers is already a very serious step and it may well already allow for various abuses on the part of the regulatory authorities. What "purse suppliers" are is not entirely clear to me. Are they wallet developers  or also their regular users? Regulation of cryptocurrency should be in moderation, otherwise it may slowly turn into a de facto ban on its use. Why especially banking institutions in cryptocurrency see only the possibility of its use for laundering dirty money and as a means of financing terrorism? Is it because cryptocurrency is their direct competitor?
