Partially, it isn't convincing enough to attraction on a sub-par product like apps or webapp, i believe other bigger factor affect their project's funding performance too. I believe it isn't that difficult to come up with a prototype, even with a strong backend though, i believe these days is about the future of the project, was it sufficient to drive users involvement, does the niche would be convinced as a better alternative, ROI and most importantly platforms and market trends, PR does some help too.
