Players can purchase a Hedgie with a credit card, and all game play is free. By making it easy and risk-free to enter the game we make it comfortable for casual gamers to get into the crypto world, and learn it step-by-step, at a comfortable pace. And in the process, have fun by playing the game and making some coin that they can spend in-game, and on real-world products and services.

HOW IT WORKS

Hedgie is a virtual character in a blockchain game, a cryptocollectible that can be owned, sold, gifted and used inside the game to make coin. Technically speaking Hedgie is an ERC-721 non-fungible token on Ethereum blockchain.

Hedgies have 4 elemental powers and 4 traits that are determined by the proximity of Hedgie’s colour to 8 power centres (primary colours corresponding to elements: Green = Earth, Blue = Water, Red = Fire, and White = Air, and the traits). Powers affect Hedgie’s performance in each of the four kingdoms available in the initial release of the game. These are the Forest (corresponding to Earth element), the Wetlands (corresponding to water), the Mountaintops (air) and the Desert (fire).

The 4 traits are Luck, Prudence, Intelligence, and Charm. Traits affect Hedgie’s unique performance in the game.

You can purchase your Hedgie with a credit card by choosing Credit Card as your payment option at checkout. You can sync your Hedgie with blockchain at any time, at which point we will pay blockchain transaction fees and automatically transfer the ownership of your chosen Hedgie to you. With Hedgie, you can play the game, start making coin, and start growing the powers of your Hedgie.

EARN Spend your coin on tools and gear to improve Hedgie's performance, spend at participating businesses, or hodl* to sell on crypto exchanges later. *hodl isn’t a typo! In the crypto world, it’s short for ‘hold on for dear life’

TOKENS DETAILS

There are 2 types of tokens on our platform: Hedgies are ERC-721 tokens and are required to start playing, it is your identifier in the game. You may think of it as your login. Curio is an ERC-20 token, it can only be mined by a player inside the game.

Curio Token:
You earn Curio by interactions in the game. Hedgie goes on the journey into one of the four game kingdoms and brings back the loot that you can consume, collect or exchange for Curio. Consuming edible loot gives a performance boost. Collecting a full collection of one type of loot gives a much bigger boost.

There are also tools and gears that you can purchase with Curio in the game to increase Hedgie’s performance. Players who earn Curio can sell it to new players who want to buy tools to boost their Hedgie's performance.

Since Curio is ERC-20 token it will be traded on decentralized exchanges like EtherDelta or ForkDelta.

Curio has a hard cap of 8,888,888,888 and can only be earned by players inside the Hedgie game. Once you've earned enough, use it to buy items inside the game, sell it on crypto exchanges, or spend it in the real world!

You can grow the powers of your Hedgie in the game and sell it to a newcomer who wants to cut the time it takes to grow powers and hit the ground running in the game with a stronger Hedgie right away.

Hedgies are now traded on OpenSea, and will be listed on other exchanges soon.

HCT token:
During the presale and launch phase, we also introduce HCT - Hedgie Community Token (ERC-20).
People can always buy Hedgie for fiat, ETH, or HCT. The price for Hedgie in HCT will stay the same while it will be increasing in fiat and ETH over time. Hedgie is currently $10 USD, and will go up to $20 USD (and equivalent in ETH) at the time of beta launch of the game in early 2019.

You can redeem your HCT for Hedgies, or sell it on an exchange (for example to anyone willing to buy Hedgie at a discount).

All HCT we get back from Hedgie purchases will be burned completely, without any of it going back into the circulation.

With blockchain technology gaining mainstream adoption it’s becoming apparent that it is not a fad, but a long-term trend that will affect our lives on many levels and hopefully in very positive ways. One application of this technology is enabling unique digital assets that, much like their analog counterparts, cannot be copied or multiplied. The non-fungible ERC-721 token on Ethereum blockchain is now a commonly accepted standard for such unique virtual objects, commonly known as cryptocollectibles. One famous example is Crypto Kitties, that took the blockchain world by storm in November 2017. Since then, there have been several other games making use of this concept.

We all saw how Crypto Kitties congested the Ethereum network, driving transaction costs through the roof and slowing down the game itself to the point where it was almost impossible to play. To avoid this issue and make the Hedgie game more entertaining and free to play, we take most of the transactions off blockchain. Similarly to crypto exchanges, players will only use the blockchain when they need to move their crypto assets (Hedgies and Coins).

All gameplay happens off-chain. Values of Curio get accumulated and tracked on the backend until a user wants to withdraw them, at which point we initiate a transaction through Infura. This way the user can transfer Curio outside the game and hodl, sell on an exchange, or spend at participating businesses (More on this here).

When a user first purchases Hedgie with fiat, they can sync it with blockchain later. In this case, we pay transaction fees on the backend automatically. The user needs to have Metamask installed. The Hedgie token then gets transferred to the user's Metamask wallet.

3 major objectives:
1. lower the entry barrier (no blockchain knowledge needed, use your credit card and you are in) we will move the Hedgie ERC721 token to your Metamask and you can start playing
2. while playing you will learn about the blockchain and crypto more (there will be tasks and tests where the player will have to learn and pass the tests in order to level up the Hedgie)
3. During the game, Hedgie will be mining coins (its not the mining it terms of Proof-of-work, but rather reward points) which are ERC20 tokens and can be traded on exchanges, which will motivate players to learn more about blockchain and start using cryptos outside of the game.

Honestly, I do not really understand what kind of a character is a crypto. I saw dragons and others in different educational programs. For children it will come in handy. For adults, I doubt that this will be an attractive solution. But, everything can be. I'm not surprised at anything.
